it really doesn't matter but it is not clear whether the date was pushed back twice or if the date first reported was wrong.

Would Alize be more useful than Martin? Would his contract be cheaper?

I’m not sure what he would cost, but being a power forward he would conflict with Brissett for minutes behind our starter. I’m not sure of his defense but he can rebound and score from close in. I think he’s a better player than Martin, but not sure if Pacers want more forward depth ? I think they could afford to lose Martin’s SG depth if the price is right for Alize. Guessing they can’t fit his salary though. :dontknow:

Alize’s contract is $61k more than what Kelan is non-guaranteed for. Claiming Alize would also guarantee his contract for the year, as he was waived on his guarantee date.

Otherwise, I think we replaced (and improved upon) Alize with Oshae.

Alize is more of a forward than Martin but I don't think he's likely to be claimed by anyone. He could be an option after a Lamb trade.

Yeah. I think re-signing him would be a bit of a "been there, done that" sort of move.

I have nothing against Alize, but I remember him as being a decent rebounder who was limited in most other ways.
We already know who he is, and should probably not expect him to improve much from here on. Meanwhile, with Martin, I expect we can count on some amount of continued growth and improvement. He is, at this point, an unfinished prospect.

I guess I just haven’t seen enough of Martin playing to think he’s going to develop.

Good for him. Hope he gets some guarantee out of it. Might have a chance to get some play there, too.

Everything I read said the Nets didn't really wanna let him go. They just had to in order to make the tax saving move.

They chose LaMarcus Aldridge and monumental tax savings over Alize. There’s no shame for Alize in that.

Yogi got waived. I'm an IU fan but I'm also a Butler fan and think Kelan offers more. I'd like to think between our two two-way point guards, we've got one who is taller and will be more useful that Yogi

I've always liked Yogi, and am an IU fan as well. But, I still don't like short guards in general. They are too limited on both ends of the floor by their physical stature. At IU he could kind of play around it, but not in the NBA.

and one is enough. TJ is the only short guard I want on the roster.

I remember they liked Hinton out of his draft last year. Probably a good target to try and steer to Ft. Wayne, too. And, obviously, he was a 2 way last year with Dallas, so have to assume Rick recommended him, too.

Exactly. I’m thinking now that Rick is here there’s a big push on getting the best talent in Fort Wayne which is the smartest way to go. Never know when a G league prospect will bust out and be ready to try to help the Pacers like Brissett did last year. Which I was pushing earlier this year to strengthen the Mad Ants and use them as a farm system of sorts.
