Man, the Nets and Lakers are going to have deep benches, considering each signed a quarter of the league this offseason.

They've had an awful offseason, they have addressed a single need, and burned future assets.
Getting mills and Johnson, while also bringing Blake, brown and Aldridge back is really good to me. They added more players that can play in a series and that’s the only thing that’s important to a team like that. Getting rid of Jordan and shamet for guys who should be able to contribute against most teams is a plus to me.
Yeah, but it will still come down to Giannis VS KD and Mids/Jrue Vs Irving/Harden. And how many of the above are healthy and in top form 10 months from now. That's really all that matters.
For the rest, I think Lopez/DDV/Allen/Portis vs the corpses of some former All Stars and Joe Harris battling his yips is a bit of a wash anyway.
I did like Patty M for them, although he's also getting a little bit older and I don't know if he will find any PT behind Irving and Harden. Their big 3 are running the team, and they are the types to demand 48 minutes each in the play offs.

Maybe I’m just a biased fan but I’m liking the Grayson Allen addition more than the ancient former stars the Nets and Lakers picked up.
Allen isn’t cool enough to kick it with Lebron or KD though and that vibe seems to be what mattered most with their moves.
On the other hand Grayson needs to actually prove it here (including beating out Donte) so it’s more theoretical at this stage.

He compared favorably to age 25 Bogdan and here's this.

I caught some sekou during the run where he played really well before the pandemic and thought he could be really promising. Didn't realize how trash he was last year when I looked into why he was in all of these draft day rumors.

It makes sense for Allen to start for the Bucks, but the Bucks may want to replace Tucker with Semi instead and go full on the defensive side. Let Semi play the top forward/big man and sit in the corner on offense. This is assuming Semi is as good on defense as advertised.

Johnson hasn't been useful in years, he's a clear downgrade from Green. Mills can no longer defend at a playoff level. Aldridge is easily exploited in the pick and roll. Shamet was one of their few defenders. They're still stuck with playoff choker Joe Harris.
Mills can still hit catch and shoot 3s, but I don't watch the Nets and think "if they just had KD, Harden, and Kyrie shoot less they'd have something"
They needed to add some active and athletic defensive types, and instead they added corpses.

Isn’t Shamet’s biggest knock that he’s a bad defender? I agree with the rest of your post though. They will miss Green the most. Think I’d rather have him that both Mills and LMA if I’m the Nets.
still learning the game

And even if they do, it's hardly going to "kill Harden's game". Harden will still be one of the best players in the league even if he is forced to play a more respectable style of basketball.

I could see chunky Harden completely dominating in the post. Like he could play minutes almost as a traditional PF and no one could stop him.

He's advertised as average on defense with perhaps above-average switchability. No reason to play him over a SG, unless the other team has insane size.

Propers to 2021 B3 DPOY Larry Sanders.
I wonder if Giannis still has those Guccis Larry gave him his rookie season.

Why does Google keep suggesting two year old NBA articles to me? I read some of the headlines and do a double take, then realize it's not current. Like... They traded WHO?

Who says the Bucks wanted them?

I for one am happy the Bucks didn’t shore up with geriatrics. The turning point for the Bucks in pretty much every series IMO was winning the battle of endurance and physicality. Those old fogies haven’t played 82 games in quite awhile. By ECF and Finals, the Nets and Lakers will be spent.

I don't know, let's see if he has the skills to adjust after relying on the foulbait style.

Harden didn't just happen to take advantage of the way the rules were being applied, he did it because he saw a way to take advantage of them. If he has to adapt, he will.

Re: ATL - Camps Open 9/28
Harden's game relies so much on his quick burst agility. The foul-baiting is annoying but the rule changes (if they actually are enforced) won't be as much of an issue with him as much as his weight and diminishing athleticism will be. Just look at how much Barkley diminished between his age 32-34 seasons. Harden's best days are behind him.
