Around the League 2021-2022

Post#1 » by Calinks » Sun Sep 5, 2021 7:46 pm

I'm curious to know what you guys think about the Bull this season? Zach has the most talent around him he has ever had. I heard an interesting stat, Lavine has never won 4 or more games in a row in his career. That may change this season. Looking at their squad I think they will get at least 45 wins in the east.

Lonzo Ball
Zach Lavine
DeMar DeRozen
Patrick Williams
Nikola Vucevic

That is a lot of firepower. If healthy I think Chicago finally takes a leap.

Outside of Lonzo, who I like, I think the Bulls have locked them into the land of mediocrity. The pieces just aren’t good enough. Zach is a top 25 player but the rest only gets them to 40-45 wins and first round playoff exit with not much of a ceiling.

Add in that Lavine just changed agents to Rich Paul, I wouldn’t be shocked if this was his last year in Chicago. If he just wanted to stay out and sign a max, his old agent (or not agent ala Embiid) could have handled that.

I think Vucevic is VERY GOOD and DeRozan used to be. Has his game gone downhill? Bulls should be able to win 45 or more.

Demar to the Bulls was the most interesting move of offseason to me

59% TS and 60% TS last two years with SA since he lives at FT line, and was 11th in NBA is APG while playing with pretty mediocre offensive talent, he's a tough guy to stop in the half-court whatever his outside shooting limitations

now he's playing with Lavine and Vuc, who isn't that far off from KAT as a big man shooter, and Ball who has two seasons at high volume, good 3pt %

I hope it works out for them, they were proactive, made aggressive moves trading picks and have taken risks

I'd rather see a team that does that succeed then a team that becomes good because they happen to be a city where some players wanted to buddy up, or put out a crap product for their fans for enough years they lucked into drafting a star player

their bench looks like it will be pretty bad though, and defense will probably be below average

could see them having a similar team as Butler Wolves
high level offense from strong starters, terrible bench, weak defense= slightly over .500 team

A lot of good points.

I think their issue is that both Vuc and Derozan are iso guys, and Zach kinda is too. So they need to stagger their minutes, have at least 1 of them on the court at all times, and just run isolations like that. Vuc, Lavine and Derozan on the court at the same time is kinda redundant, better to make their otherwise crappy bench unit stronger by having one of them 3 on the court with them at all times.

dang, wanted the Wolves to take a chance on Stanley
still think he could be a good role player if he stops trying to be a #7 pick star player

They also got Alize Johnson and Matt Thomas. Big day in the news for end of bench players in Chicago. I missed if it was announced what kind of contract each player received. I'd imagine that they're mostly training camp deals.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

WOW they got Alize Johnson too? That's massive. Bulls just turned into the Lakers are all a sudden and are snatching quality pieces. Guess they are finally getting some benefit from their market. Big moves, they are looking nice.

Wow, we are less than two weeks before training camp starts and the NBA preseason starts in less than a month. That off-season went by so fast!

Glad he isn't on the team anymore. I know nobody likes Dlo but I think, he has the potential to be the far superior player of these two.

I’m vaccinated and believe it’s the right thing to do to protect those more at risk. However, there’s something very disturbing about the government attempting to force it on American citizens. It’s very similar to old white men thinking they should have a say about a women’s body.

Some Warriros fans are thinking they can do Wiggins for Simmons straight up as Simmons value keeps dropping. If that happens I will flip.

I’ll be confused with Brad Pitt before that happens.

Not to get political, but every school I’ve ever been to has required proof of certain vaccines. And I’ve been to way to many schools in my lifetime. I don’t ever think there will be a general mandate. Just a mandate they if you want to do certain activities where you’ll be around other people, for their safety, you need to be vaccinated to participate (ie playing in a basketball game in California).
