I don't know if it's been done but only rookie seasons.
We can figure out the years and do it by decade or just do a big one post-merger.

Sounds like a good one. Don't think is been done before. Choosing from players that played full four years of college kids a good change up.

I like it as well.

Pairs - matching first names? Maybe one all-NBA per pair.

I like this, too. A twist would be requiring you use the season they played on a national team.

How about pairs from championship teams?

Have to pick four pairs of players, only one player at a time, and each player must have a teammate from that chosen championship season also picked.

eg. Lebron and Kyrie are a pair and 2016 is there season.

Deep Modern Draft

'18-19, '19-20, '20-21

10 or 12 players but every player has two teams. Everyone's teams draft back-to-back so that when your turn is up you take two picks - one for each team. (Maybe do something different for round 1 to keep things even.) Two at a time keeps the draft moving. Only a few seasons and 20 teams means that we have to reach deep into the player pool.

After the draft, you can trade between your two teams: only one-for-one and only if the picks were from the same round. That lets you balance teams if the positions/fit didn't match right. Then pick one of your two teams to enter into the league/playoffs so that format doesn't have to change or be really long.

Hey folks, if anyone would like to leverage anything from my last spreadsheet, please feel free to do so. One of the cool things about excel (and equivalents) is that however much of a master I think I am, I always meet people who teach me something new.

Timezone draft - you must draft 2 players from all of Pacific, Mountain, Central and Eastern timezones. Or alternatively the rule could be you must use all four timezones in your first four picks. Even though the Eastern timezone has 15 teams and the Mountain has 3, this is part of the strategy.

The first version is a better challenge I would say.

Playoff stats only, at least 7 games played (or something) would be great amd really different l, but also readily available

Based on a few things going on personally I'm not going to be able to play for a little while. Will circle back again as I always do.

How about a tough bastards draft? Hard nosed guys that played hard and played through injury etc.

How would you deterimine who was draftable?

I like the time zone idea. Less of a fan of playoff stats- I consider those to be too small a sample size to be all that useful.

I'm not big on playoff stats either because of small sample but it does seem to hold high value on here. Also thought it probably hasn't been done yet.

The small sample size will also artificially make players cheaper/more expensive than they normally are- over data that doesn’t indicate the player all that much- it’s not just the small sample size- it’s also very matchup dependent.

It’s an idea that has been kicked around in the past.

Another idea is replace two starting players on a non playoff team. 1980 onwards maybe.

That could be interesting as a non-draft game.
