Do you think he doesn't put in effort on offense? He's an elite transition player. He averages something along the lines of 20 assisted points a game. 82 touches per game leading the 76ers. 5.8 minutes per game with possession, again leading his team. He hardly isn't putting any effort in on offense.

I don't watch enough Philly games to give an accurate answer, but what I have seen of him (usually against the Celtics or in the playoffs) he often times just sits up top of the key, and doesn't even try to play offense. I've seen Boston (and other teams) over and over just leave him alone up top because they know he isn't even going to try to make a move to the basket (and we all know that him taking an outside shot isn't even a possibility). Again, maybe I've only seen his off-games, but simply judging on what I have seen, I would have to say that he seems like an extremely lazy offensive player.

Ben's 7-1 in his last 8 games against Boston btw and averages right around his career norms against the Celtics.

There was the one game in the playoffs in Ben's rookie year where he scored a singular point that gets blown out of proportion like it wasn't an extreme outlier. In the other games from that same series he put up:

18/7/6 w/ 2 steals and a block
16/8/8 w/ a steal and 2 blocks
19/13/5 w/ 2 steals
18/8/6

He's also the best wing defender in the league. Boston has been a bad matchup against Philadelphia since 2019 and onwards. Embiid seems to go for 40+ in every single meeting, and Ben is the best wing defender in the league for a team with two 'big' wings that are smaller and slower than him and shoot bunk percentages when he's in their vicinity.

Yeah, Boston is such a terrible matchup against Philly that they routinely slap them in the postseason every time they meet…

All Im wondering is how is his next team gonna feel when he doesnt wanna shoot open jumpers and doesnt care about improving his o game at all? Is lets say Minnesota gonna tolerate him and how long?
Is he destined to bounce around the league for the rest od his career getting traded every season?
I just cant envision a good scenario and dont get why any team is interested in him

It's one playoff series win.

Ben was injured for the entirely of the 2020 playoffs, doesn't count.

This isn't Lebron emasculating the city of Toronto, their fans, and their best ever player for the better part of a decade tier here.

I just want to say that Stormi is one of the biggest Simmons fanboys on Sixers board. In no way does he represent what majority of Philly fans think about Bens game and situation in general.

This is the definition of Hubris and arrogance playing out in front of our faces. The draft was the time to trade Simmons and now Morey has held on too long and will get a weaker return. I can’t remember the last time the team trading the superstar that publicly demanded a trade came out ahead. Melo is the last one that came to mind.

Short of actually turning into a good shooter, I'm not convinced there's a lot Ben can do to fix his trade value.

I find Morey to be far more responsible for the current predicament, than Simmons. His reported starting position in trade negotiations basically shut down talks with a number of teams. Then he's publicly complaining about teams basically conspiring to lower Simmons trade value with their offers. He sounded delusional and in the business world, folks don't waste a lot of time dealing with delusional people.

His primary job was to keep as many teams talking to him, and making offers for Simmons, as possible, in order to get some type of bidding war going. Even if you use the Pacers offer of Brogdon and a first as a starting point, and getting a team to beat that with a second first and comparable player, until you're confident you flushed out every interested team's best offer, you'd be much better off than where the Sixers are today.

Morey is asking for an allstar type player and multiple picks for Simmons. That shows me how the Sixers value Simmons, I don’t think it’s the value that’s the problem, it’s Morey’s unrealistic expectations.

Yeah, I agree there that Morey has to be realistic in his expectations. But at the same time, Simmons tanking his trade value by the way he's acting isn't going to help the situation here. If he really wanted to be traded he would, I don't know, act like a professional, work hard, and then get traded when he shows his value on the court.

Yelling "I WANT TO GET TRADED SO I'M SITTING OUT UNTIL YOU TRADE ME" is a strategy, and it might work, but it might drag the process out further as teams know that they don't have to give up premium assets for a malcontent.

Other than Portland, who can even offer up a win now package for the Sixers? CJ and stuff for Simmons needs to happen like yesterday.

Training camp will be starting in a couple of weeks so curious how this actually plays out.

Exactly, you get the player/premium pick or the picks, you don’t get both.

Kevin Love netted Andrew Wiggins (R) as the premium asset, Thad Young (FRP moved for him), and Anthony Bennett to make the money work.

Kyrie Irving netted Nets Pick as the premium asset, Jae Crowder/Isaiah Thomas as the secondary asset/salary filler.

James Harden netted 4 FRPs but no premium asset.

George netted 5 FRPs and Gallo as salary filler; but no premium asset.

If I’m the rockets, I wouldn’t even trade John wall for Simmons. That’s how bad Simmons is.

At least wall only has two years left on his contract. I’d rather have John wall for two more years than get stuck with that albatross that is Simmons contract for four years.

Ben Simmons hasn’t sat out yet, but the talk of sitting out isn’t to tank his trade Value, it’s to put pressure on the Sixers. Every team that’s interested in Simmons knows exactly what they’re getting from him and they’re making offers accordingly. Morey has had months to put together a package, it’s crazy that he thinks this situation is at all salvageable. At this point the Sixers might need to take a step back to take two steps forward.

I guess I don't understand the point of debating what Ben is "worth" at this point. Or even what the Sixers ideally want. They aren't going to get what they want because what they want is not available. Ben's current trade value is determined by the market. Other teams decide what he's worth in a trade, not the Sixers.

Morey spent all summer publicly trying to trade him while simultaneously floating bunk reports about a high level of interest around the league and being completely unreasonable as far as actually getting a trade done. Now the season is about to start and Ben is not going to show up. Philly backed themselves into a corner and they need to take the best offer available, move on, and focus on the winning games this season with their new roster.

I think Kings and Portland are the best suitors, but I hope they hold out. Bet they can save a pick or two by just waiting for the trade deadline or next season. Morey can keep holding onto his depreciating asset while destroying Embiid's value in the process.
