The Bears have to be able to threaten the deep middle and third of the field. They obviously don't have the offensive line to just straight drop back and do it but play-action and roll-outs help. That's essentially what Mcvay has built his offense around.

QB1 has to sustain a drive now. The run game and these lil passes wont keep him in the starting lineup for long. They do have to get the ball out quick, but you also have to fix what aint working.

I don't see anything wrong with Dalton so far. People wanting him to throw the ball down the field are forgetting that the line can't hold the Rams out for more than a couple of seconds. Same problem that we've had for years, and every year the FO fails to correct this.

Rams haven't proven they can run the ball today, this game isn't over even though Andy Dalton is bleh. He can still get hot and Montgomery is a pro-bowl level RB which makes his life a bit easier.

Announcers just said Rams are playing an umbrella coverage to protect against the deep ball, and are willing to give up the short passes. So Bears are just taking what's available.
