The asterisk debate is weird because there is absolutely no official anything that puts an asterisk next to any title. So it's all made up in the minds of fans.

In which case, if a particular fan wants to imagine an asterisk next to certain titles, I mean I disagree but... go for it. I don't get the point of arguing over something that's (a) imaginary, and (b) based on personal opinion/bias.

Your claim was that "LeBron" made it happen. Your link, and the Lowe piece it links to, says "Cleveland" lobbied the league, not LeBron. No indication that he was part of it at all.

Nah Bruh, you need to stop it. You really think he is the guy that would place the call? You either have to hate him with all your heart or be a lil slow to believe that.

If you have played in nba finals and you have won it you are champion . How you won it is really wide and open . Did you get traded ? Did you and friend want play together ? Did you get drafted . Did you make your way to through the g league (Alex Caruso) . Did you do S/T or were you bought out and signed by contender

I don't know if asterisk is the right word but the current culture of team stacking deserves to be a major part of the conversation for these three in particular. It's an unfortunate reality for them just as it has been for the fans.

Also, if say Luka, Giannis, and Tatum decide to team up in a few years and then Tatum gets hurt and Luka low key freezes Giannis out of the offense but they win anyway we wouldn't just forget how they shamelessly tried to rig it in the first place. That would still be part of the narrative just like it has been for these three amigos.

You naive little boy.

"Draymond Green’s suspension for Game 5 of the NBA Finals Monday night is, the Warriors believe, a direct result of LeBron James having tremendous clout within the league.

A number of players expressed that sentiment in off-the-record"

"James after Game 4 immediately commented on the matter, saying he expected the NBA to review it and make a decision. "

https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/warriors-lebron-probably-made-call-green-suspension

Lebron called on the league to review the play and "make a decision". Now tell me again how Lebron wasn't lobbying to have Draymond suspended.

Kindly avoid personal attacks. (Don't call people "naive little boy")

Nah. You claimed it was LeBron personally and bashed him for it. Yet your links indicate only that the team he played for did it, not that he did.

People are free to have whatever opinion of LeBron (or any other player) they want to have. But if they make claims of fact they need to be able to back them up.

None of that is relevant. The only question that matters is whether or not you tried to stack the deck and avoid competition.

I'm assuming the OP doesn't put an asterisk on Kobe titles for playing with Shaq and for Phil and later with Pau/Odom and for Phil.

So I'm calling bulsh on the whole thread.

I read the link.

“LeBron probably made the call,” one Warrior said of the decision announced by the NBA office on Sunday.

That's the extent of it. I mean I don't think of that as particularly great evidence :dontknow:

Can asterisk be a banned word / topic on RealGM?

Kobe didn't stack the deck to avoid competition. He competed and won the right way.

Conveniently leaving out the fact that Lebron ctold the media that he expects the league to review it and make a decision. Whatever though, bury your head in the sand if you must.

In what context? If he was asked about the incident, that's exactly what he should have answered. Not even close to "he made it happen".

Kobe did not want to play with Charlotte or some other teams in his draft day...He wanted to play in a big market from day one.

He also demanded a trade out of LA because he didn't have enough help, and when offered one (to Chicago) turned it down because he wouldn't have enough help.

Kobe was an amazing player, one of the greats on this planet, but this narrative of him as the patron saint of loyalty and sacrifice really needs to go. We can remember him for what he was, not what he wasn't.
