Can't see them adding anyone and going over the lux at this point, and realistically probably at any point this season. Maybe someone later in the year when their actual salary is low enough to fit under that 600k number.
We could still stretch Layman and replace him with someone. I’d like to get some more size/toughness in the front court. Maybe a top 55 protected 2nd for Oruro?
I think there is a near ZERO percent chance we add dead cap for next year a even less of a chance we do it to just barely go into the LUX...that would be fireable.
If we open up a roster spot, we would just use a 2nd, but this late? Doubt it, though possible. Hard to think there are any targets out there at this point we would value enough to move a 2nd.
I think the more likely situation would to move either Okogie, Layman or both and a 2nd or 2nds for a player a team might move on from for any number of reasons... probably a player buried on a team's depth chart and due a contract in a year our two, or a useful player with long-term salary the team might want to shed given it's direction. But probably not many teams looking to make moves like that at this point, but the teams who would be, would want to do it soon
I think we stand pat, even though I think we should or should have been trying to find value. Right now it seems Simmons or bust.
