Is Boucher worth a 1st round pick?

Yes, given his $7 million cap hit and his skill set/efficiency

Sekou, Claxton, '24 2nd, '26 2nd?

This looks great for TOR. I think Claxton has to have similar if not more value than Boucher.

Would BRK be OK with only having Boucher / LMA / Blake at C?

Boucher is not a C, he might get some small ball minutes there, but with Blake, Milsap and JJ in that role his center minutes would be very small. Between Blake, Millsap and Durant playing the PF minutes, I just don't see the need for Boucher there. I rather keep Claxton, cheap and could improve and be the starter if Blake and Millsap decline or walk next year.

Claxton is a FA after this year too

RFA though, and likely cheaper to bring back than Boucher.

Not if he's starting on a championship team he's probably not. Teams would overpay for the "potential" maybe still to untap. Teams are rightfully going to see Boucher as what he is and I'd be stunned if he's more than an MLE guy next off-season.

But mainly if I'm Brooklyn my calculus is which guy helps me more this year. If they think its Boucher and Toronto accepts that offer I'm doing it. Their existing bigs come with enough questions that I'd love to add a guy I know can play half the game or more and be fairly reliable.

I got both Boucher or Claxton likely to play under 20 minutes for Brooklyn. Maybe Claxton shows enough to get a Robert Williams type contract, but I have my doubts. So I think come FA next season my easy bet would be Boucher with his somewhat longer resume and unique skill set and non rfa status earns more than Claxton. This does not mean I think Boucher is worth more in FA just what I see as the likely outcome.

I see Boucher as currently better, and Brooklyn's title window is now. Next year is next year's problem.

I agree without taking consideration of who is already on Brooklyn's roster. However between all the options that have that can play the same role as Boucher and Brooklyn showing their willingness to lean on older vets I don't think Boucher is GTD to beat out enough of the expendables to make it worth the trade. Plus no one on Brooklyn's roster can really play Claxton's role if they determine they really need that pure paint defender in certain matchups.

Now if you tell me Durant is going to play 80%+ of his minutes only at SF then maybe I could get on board, but I think his is going to split his time between the 3/4.

If Lakers had a pick to trade they would make sure he didn't get traded for less than a first.

If dallas could trade their 2022 first, I think they should do that. But since it would be a 2026 first - I think they’d pass.

Dallas offers involves underwhelming prospects with interesting potential skill sets (Green/Brown) and I’m thinking that offer is beat by; Brooklyn, Charlotte, Chicago, Minnesota, maybe GS depending on Looney/Wiseman..

Don't think Dallas need a first in the deal. They saving like 12 million dollars. Think that worst close to a first.

Powell and burke are guaranteed 30M total... Where is this savings you speak of? We are also not in the tax so it doesn't mean anything to us.

If Powell and Burke were expirings, I’d agree with you. But really Toronto just splits the money into two seasons and takes Burke for free (mostly). And that calls for a first IMO.

A first rd pick varies hugely. No way is he worth a lottery, or even a top 22 first. Taking back say a player like Dunn, Tristan Thompsun or the like I think they could get a late 1st say after pick 25 as fair value. The thing is who has a pick in that range that needs such a player.

Kind of generous for flashing one year. If I was to give up a first for a expiring I would want the guy to be the starter.

I'd say 2 2nds but I can see a team offering a top 25 protected #1 if they have a TPE or the space to take his roughly $7 million contract. The protection would be for 3 years and then become 2 2nds.

Considering that the Raptors are in the tax about $4.3 million deleting Boucher's contract would get them out of the tax and that has to be worth something to them. The could take back a contract smaller than $4 million and a 2nd which might be a great deal both ways. Who? IDK?
