Harrell is a savant at running pick-and-roll. He knows exactly how to read a defense and get to the right spot. I really hope he'll be able to impart his wisdom to Gafford and Hachimura during the time he spends here.
The only thing about Lou Will with Harrell is Lou's proficiency at shooting the 3 ball meant teams had to play him for the shot as well as cover Trez on the roll. Dinwiddie is no outside threat but is danger to cut to the interior, so teams can play to clog the middle and cut off both Trez and Dinwiddie. If we keep 2 shooters on the floor with them it is less of an issue though. Just slightly more predictable. Still with those two and Beal a danger to attack down the middle, teams will collapse to stop them, and somebody is going to be open outside.
I can see Dinwiddie playing well with Bryant on the pick and pop, though he would need to be able to maintain his high % from 3 on increased volume. The Nugs P&R with Jokic & Mitchell is hard to guard when the big boy is hitting from outside. I can see Deni picking this skill set up since he showed a decent shot from three at the top of the key and the left side above the break. Kuzma too, as he gets stronger, either rolling to the basket or popping out for the shot.
Seems like Gafford could thrive next to a good P&R guard too if they get the reps to develop chemistry. Rui seems to learn from example, so watching Harrell may be exactly what he needs to get it.
I fully expect Wes to emphasize these skills, though with limited training camp and practice it might be slow, so whomever learns quickest will get the reps in this regard.
