I double KD whenever he touches the ball (KMidd as the main defender) leave DDV on Kyrie and Jrue on Harden but I trap Harden whenever they run that stupid dribble hand-off near the corners. I end up blowing BKN out every time but allow like 20+ 3s per game.

I honestly don't even know why I buy/play NBA2K anymore, I get bored so quick. Not to mention that I have eSport level friends in 2K and playing w/ them is absolutely not fun.

I downloaded 2K21 on GP, played one half of one quarter, couldn't make a jump shot with one of the best shooters in the league, quit forever.

2K's jumpshot mechanics have been notoriously broken for years. As an avid MLB Show player, I'd say that their hitting mechanics are going down the same path unfortunately. Input lag on a controller makes the perfect/perfect timing stuff incredibly frustrating, and even then I've lined out perfectly to an outfielder with my 125-power attribute slugger way too many times to make logical sense.

Maybe I'm just old and can't keep up with these caffeinated/drugged up e-sports kids these days, but I mean, I feel like that shouldn't be the bar when all I'm doing is just trying to make a wide open 3 with Steph Curry on the medium difficulty level......right?

God, co-signed on the show. I lapsed on it for a couple years, got back into this season and couldn't hit for ****. Gave it multiple games, adjusted sliders, used different types of hitting inputs and was still garbage. I used to love hitting in that game.

I'm also finding it difficult to determine/identify what items can be hacked. There are turrets that can be hacked but I always end up finding a turret after I've killed all the enemies in an area.

The only time I think the movement/ combat gets away from me a bit is melee one on ones. But it's usually good. I like the gunplay a lot. Guns jamming on you is a nice touch.

Haven't had problems with hacking, but sometimes it's tough to know how far away you can be.

But mostly I'm just in awe of the game. Last night I finished the mission where you acquire the ability to Infuse weapons, trinkets, and slabs (abilities). BIG TIP: you die immediately when you enter the machine, but you KEEP whatever gun you were last holding and it becomes a permanent item on your runs. I think this is important, because starting early runs with something like a Rapier makes life a lot easier.

Played for an hour after that and died repeatedly going after a particular slab, but I always made incremental progress with knowledge. Went home and played for a half hour over lunch and completed it with enough material to infuse and permanently gain the slab.

I'll say this, Julianna is such a brilliant character, both in terms of narrative but also gameplay. When I was sneaking and racing back to my homebase after killing the boss/Visionary, I was terrified that she was going to show up, lock the doors, and hunt me down. It's **** thrilling.

But yea, tonight I'm gonna replay the level a handful of levels to fully upgrade my Nexus ability and permanently infuse two purple level guns I located.

Maybe I need to tweak my sensitivity. What do you have yours set at?

Default, but I usually like controls more sensitive. But this game also has some auto-focus on as default. My gun of choice is the long range single shell Rapier. When I'm in combat with multiple weapons I cycle zoom in and out between shots and when I zoom back in I'm always aiming right at the enemy. It's easy mode.

Seriously. Seeing sh*t like this makes me want to buy it and I swore I wouldn't before Black Friday. Also been hearing they fixed the shooting this year and that it's just been generally fun which it absolutely wasn't last year.

I'm trying to remind myself that they will patch it to hell soon but I have a 3 day weekend and I'm almost positive I'm going to break down and get it at some point.

Pray for me.

Tales of Arise has exceeded my expectations. The story is just wonderful so far - like, stay up until 1am to see what happens next. Just totally lost track of time.

Death Loop reminds me of BioShock, in a good way. Digging it so far.

Fixed in what way exactly? It's still mostly the same system. Get a "green" release and it'll go in every time. Get close and you'll make a realistic-ish amount of shots. Mistime it significantly and you're probably not going to make it. They did make the strength of contests matter a lot more this year; wide open shots are easy to make even if you're shooting with the Dwight Howard's of the world. Heavily contested shots are impossible to make. Regularly contested shots are low percentage shots.

Add it all up and shooting percentages are still way too high online (like, shooting 70-80% from 3 as a team on a consistent basis high).

Having said that, this is probably the most balanced the gameplay has been in a very long time (though we'll see as people figure out the meta and stuff). It's a legitimate chess match watching dribble gods and good defenders go at it; in recent years guys have been able to just dribble wherever they want without a care in the world. 2K is receiving a ton of complaints about how strong the defense is right now so it'll be interesting to see if they cave or not. Players also feel the right weight; big men are worth having on the floor and can really control the paint while guards really tough to stop if they know what they're doing.

I've already nearly played through an entire season of games (just a really really slow week at work lol).

Playing and finishing FFXIII that I had started on 360 many years ago but never finished. Can understand why it received criticism, but honestly appreciate the linearity of the game. Really helped with the battle system which is really a departure from previous FF games. I'm enjoying it now especially I'm at the more "open" 2nd half of the game.

Second half of the game is really fantastic. And I totally agree, and hope we see a return to more linearity honestly. There needs to be a balance. Tales of Arise has decently sized areas you go through - I think ideally you have something a little larger - but I think some parameters to your progress help and can lead to a more easily impactful story.

Open world was a huge game changer in the early years, and that's not to say I don't still enjoy those games, but I think it's well past overused and often executed poorly.

Have you ever played any other Tales game before? I have just never been able to get into the series tbh. Arise looks interesting though.

This is my first one. I thought about checking them out earlier this year, but then Arise was announced (or I became aware of it) and decided to just hold off because it looked like a big step forward visually - comparative to their generations - from what I could tell.

I'm not much of a gamer and certainly not a pc gamer but I got into Valheim when it came out. With the new update yesterday, I'll probably give er a go from the beginning again. Time just disappears when I play that game which is why I haven't really touched it since last winter. I've also started playing Dead by Daylight on xbox. It is fun but having to rely on other people blows. It's also a pretty toxic community. Like most games, I assume it's 12 year olds and stoned college kids with inferiority complexes that do most of the lame ****.

You guys have convinced me to give XIII another chance. I think I only gave it a good 10-15ish hours before I bailed. Just wasn't a big fan of the characters and the story/gameplay wasn't great enough to keep me invested like previous games. I used the "Classic" combat setting and I'm wondering if it took away a lot of the enjoyment for me (it wasn't so much classic turn-based as it is a hybrid MMO style thing). It doesn't help that I'm not a huge fan of the "Bayonetta" style combat though.

I'll just say that I have no idea how well it holds up, as I haven't played it since release. But I distinctly recall playing it front-to-back without stopping, enjoying how it opens up in the second half, and how story-driven it was compared to what was coming out at the time.

Can definitely vibe with the "characters" part, Ron. Hope (the young boy) and Vanille's VA almost caused me to quit within about 15 minutes the first time. I will say, I think I've just played so many more games with terrible VA that Vanille no longer bothers me, and Hope turns out to not be the worst character alive, which helps the cast feel more likeable (if not still forgettable).
