I’m keeping an eye on your thoughts. Seems like a game I might enjoy. Not traditionally into JRPGs (still have never played an FF game), but have enjoyed a few greatly like Fire Emblem (though i consider that tactics first). Could be something I throw in the wishlist around the holiday.

Deathloop: I go into every map with the intention to play stealthy but then I typically go into most situations gun blazing. The game is good but I feel like I'm missing something or not playing it the right way.

Wow, they really upped their realism game this year.

Seriously. Seeing sh*t like this makes me want to buy it and I swore I wouldn't before Black Friday. Also been hearing they fixed the shooting this year and that it's just been generally fun which it absolutely wasn't last year.

I'm trying to remind myself that they will patch it to hell soon but I have a 3 day weekend and I'm almost positive I'm going to break down and get it at some point.

Pray for me.

It's very anime, but certainly not the most anime thing I've ever played. I'd say if you played and enjoyed FE Three Houses, you'd be fine from that perspective.

It doesn't feel aggressively JRPG to me. I'm not really sure what JRPG even means anymore, honestly, aside from an RPG made by a Japanese developer. There are no random encounters and it's not turn based - really the total opposite of that. I guess maybe some over-the-top characters (anime)? Check there.

The story has been excellent and it didn't take very long to ramp-up. With a couple exceptions, the VA has been well done too. I think the biggest thing to consider is the combat, which is surprisingly...maybe deep isn't the right word, but engaging? You have a default attack button, but it's really about casting artes - of which there seem to be hundreds for each character - and stringing combos together. It's been quite fun. And a good challenge on the moderate difficulty (one step up from default). I've died/had to restart several times on bosses, which has felt only minimally frustrating and more so it's been fun to figure out the right strategy. Honestly the combat is probably closer to something like DMC than it is to anything FF.

Will of course keep you posted on how that evolves as I keep playing, as I'm very early and I think it's a lengthy game. I'll be sidetracked inevitably in about 5 days, though.

Also wish there was FOV slider in Deathloop, sometimes feels like I'm playing with blinders on.

Not sure if it was already mentioned, but Eastward came out this week and I feel like it's right up the alley of some of the people here.

I love Deathloop, it's just about the perfect game, but damn the combat is easy. I've got four of the five special abilities (only one fully upgraded) and I only really use one for navigation purposes.

The game isn't really about combat. It's a puzzle game with the skin of a shooter and the missions/puzzles are soooo good. That said, if there was more resistance I wouldn't complain. I can basically go into each area, wipe out the entire map of enemies, and explore as much as I want without worry. This game really needed a few varieties of grunts.

Still haven't gotten my hands on a PS5, but I've been enjoying Scarlet Nexus. The right amount of anime nonsense, and I've been loving the combat.

I have no horse in this race(doubtful to pick it up at launch), but if I did Valhalla calls.

Went back and started Dishonored 2 tonight after my week with Deathloop. I see how Deathloop is an extension of Arkane's existing formula, and I think I'll eventually give it an honest shot, but for right now it's really hard to go back to previous generation tech AND ask me to play a game that doesn't punish you for killing absolutely everyone. So back to Deathloop it is.

Still having a blast, but I'm trying to talk myself into the idea that someday I'll make use of all the abilities I've earned. You can complete the game using one or two weapons and no abilities, though Shift and Nexus are very handy. Maybe it'll be the PVP? I think this game's second life might be invading other players and ruining their days.

I'll be playing New World with a bunch of people, but not even sure what region yet. I want to say my ping was better in the open beta on NA East but we have some west coasters.

Got D2R preloaded and ready to go for tomorrow. Tales and Last Epoch will go on-hold for a while. Haven't decided on my first build yet. I'll probably end up going FOrb, but the Assassin teaser video got me kinda excited for a trapsin, too. Will likely be a last-minute call :)

I like a lot of the stuff added to the Hearth & Home update for Valheim. It's probably the best game that no one is playing anymore.
