Speaking of doing what's in the best culture-oriented interests of the Spurs, three years on with greater stability and unity on the team proves it's always right to do right by your values.

Right. Once again I'd rather not be posting about this, but about a month ago Hammond talked to Jabari Young of all people about the whole Blazers not hiring her and here she is a month later doing another press tour being interviewed by the esteemed Kendrick Perkins on ESPN's Jump and also a SI interview.

Like holy **** is there another assistant coach who keeps themselves in the limelight like this? You want to be hired because you're the best person for the job, the best fit with whichever organization but then talk about how organizations aren't ready to hire a woman yet and when it happens the flood gates will open.

Maybe Dame just felt more comfortable with Billups even if Blazers used her for some good PR.

Maybe organizations hired whomever they thought was best for the job regardless, in fact, of whether they were a man or woman.

I just don't understand how an assistant coach keeps seeking and / or getting media time for what every other assistant coach goes through.

What's the angle here? None of this is new info but she keeps selling her resume out there.

Just one bad vibe about this after another...

Almost two years ago, the Spurs announced intentions to build a new practice facility that would be part of a larger complex. Well now there's news that this ambitious project will soon break ground in October. For all the changes to ownership that some feared may signal a future move of the team, this commitment along with the new stable ownership group solidifies the Spurs' even deeper roots in San Antonio. This is a major investment in the team and the community.

More details emerge about Spurs' plans for $510.8 million campus in Northwest San Antonio
Spurs Sports & Entertainment is planning a major project on the city’s Northwest Side — which could include a state-of-the-art training facility for the San Antonio team, a biotechnology research institute, a public park and commercial and medical office space.

When it’s completed, the $510.8 million campus could house team facilities and research, restaurant, retail and commercial space, totaling more than 500,000 square feet, according to a presentation Tuesday to Bexar County commissioners.

“The Human Performance Campus is an exciting part of our collective future — for our city, our community and Spurs Sports & Entertainment,” SS&E chief executive R.C. Buford said in a statement. “Over the last five decades, San Antonio and the Spurs have developed and grown together in amazing ways. We believe this project continues that tradition and will have an impact locally, regionally and nationally.”

The campus would be built at a major intersection and near the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Shops at La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. An estimated 1,700 full-time employees would work on the campus....

Commissioners said the campus also would further research and investment in public health, including physical and mental health, and provide more green space for residents.

I was thinking we could bring Matt up but it was more in the context of Ben Simmons. Then I thought well we just hired him as the G-League coach so maybe not. And yet here he is! I think this is an excellent addition. He played professionally, has a lot of international coaching experience, and in following the Austin Spurs, to a man all the players had glowing things to say about him. That he's been part of our program and understands our culture are added bonuses. Very solid.

Some observations: NBA height measurements are weird

Looks like based on Tre and Derrick's hats that the Coffee Gang tradition will continue with the new generation of Spurs

Last I'd read, Zach Collins was still on crutches so it's good to see him at least being able to walk around

Lots of our guys have been hanging around together this off season which is really good to see. It's a tight group; this is a bonding that is often underestimated but is one of those elements that helps hold a team together

Manu was along for some of it, wearing a Spurs polo shirt. Time to read too much into it. This keeps my hope alive of his becoming one of our assistant coaches this season. *fingers crossed* Anyway, it's great that he was involved like this. Love to see it!

Congratulations to everyone on their new positions:

Spurs have announced some changes and promotions behind the ... oh my God Manu's BAAAAAAACK!!!

In the Spurs front office, Manu Ginobili has been named Special Advisor to Basketball Operations and Josh Ryan is now Senior Front End Developer.

Ginobili returns to the Spurs following a 16-year playing career with San Antonio where he helped the Silver and Black capture four NBA championships. The Spurs all-time leader in three-pointers made (1,495) and steals (1,392), his career winning percentage of .721 is the best in NBA history (min. 1,000 games). A native of Argentina and 23-year professional, Ginobili is one of only two players in the history of basketball to win a EuroLeague title, an NBA championship and an Olympic gold medal.

Way to deliver Spurs earth shattering news in the most customarily understated way ever, Spurs!

I had a feeling (ok it was more like a hope) that Manu was returning when I saw him wearing that Spurs polo shirt in the previous post. Something official looking about those polo shirts. I thought it would be as an assistant, but this way Manu can greatly help spread the culture to the next generation of personnel and especially players while still getting to be with his family. Win win!

Welcome, Manu!!!!!!!

An update on the multi-purpose complex that includes the Spurs' new training facility:
Read on Twitter

There's a vote this Thursday about approving a grant request for the project. If City Council backs the plan, groundbreaking can occur within a month:
On Thursday, the San Antonio City Council will be weighing a resolution to approve an economic development grant of up to $17,000,000 for construction of the Human Performance Campus. The grant, which would be paid annually over 25 years would help fund the multi-purpose development that will include a practice facility, public plaza, research institute, office and medical buildings, and a large public park on 24 acres of property near La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

According to a presentation given to Bexar County commissioners in August, the project costing $510.8 million could generate more than 1,700 jobs, spread out across 504,000 square ft. of space. Most of the project will be funded privately, but there is some public investment. In August, the Bexar County commissioners unanimously approved a request to negotiate with the developer to offer $15 million in exchange for a park donation from the real estate company as part of the deal.

A 24-acre space called The Park at La Cantera will include space for a hike and bike trail along Leon Creek along with what the Spurs say is the largest dog park in Bexar County. The training facility and state-of-the-art research institute will also include local partners for fields including healthcare, diagnostic research, next-generation biomedical research in partnership with professional and amateur athletes.
