Who should I support ? (New Australian fan)
Hey guys just an Australian here who started getting really interested in the NFL lately & needed some help on picking a team.
Everytime I’ve picked a team from a certain sport in the past I generally pick teams who are young with potential but still a couple of years away from being true contenders if that helps.
Cheers !

With your general pick I would say you should lean towards
Washington Football Team - Built a great defense as the base, have found studs at WR and RB in McLaurin+Gibson, alongside a lot of nice young offensive talent. Biggest lacking atm is experience, and a actual QB. The hardest position to fill.
Miami Dolphins - Recently out of a tank, again have built a great defense. Built a great WR core, and surprisingly good RBS (for guys that other teams didn’t value), their biggest question marks being how their young QB shapes out.
Though I think the bigger question is… what type of play do you enjoy?
A drilled system where everyone plays their part (think Spurs in the NBA)
A flashy “air raid” offence, with big throws and insane pace
A smash mouth system, where it’s all about going up the guts
A grinder system, based off solid defensive principles
Wildcards, where you don’t know what they will do?
Cause personally I find you’ll enjoy it more, if you enjoy the style of play

After your first, you change, you mature, you dont just jump into things.

Go and stick with Mahomes, Hill, Kelce and the Chiefs. They are not going anywhere for a very long time and super exciting to watch.

Just don't pick the Dallas Cowboys. You'll be disappointed.

Chargers for sure. Rookie QB last year who broke all sorts of rookie records in 15 games, but they only won 7 games. Derwin James as a player playing his second year, was an all pro his first, and Bosa a young pass rusher as well as a young RB, OL, receivers, etc.
Chiefs if you want to be a frontrunner who just went to two Super Bowls, but only guys like BJJ go for frontrunners.
Another good thing about the Chargers is they play the Cowboys today. America's most hated team, though most call them "America's team" which is pretty annoying.

Pick a team that's most like the Australian ones you cheer for.
For teams on the rise it depends how close you want them.
Arizona Cardinals - they have exciting #1 pick QB from a few years ago. 8-8 last year but potential in upcoming years to make the leap.
LA Chargers - Drafted a star QB last year and look like potential future contender.
Washington Redskins - got a taste winning a bad division last year. Good defense core but no quarterback.
Cincinatti Bengals - They are still on the bottom but drafted their star QB #1. He had torn ACL last year but is back already.
Teams that are close:
Cleveland Browns - They were loser of the league for many years but rebuilt with multiple #1 picks, etc. They got a taste of success last year with 2nd round.
Buffalo Bills - Another longtime sad team, made conference finals last year, was predicted to be a contender this year.

Chiefs? Yeah, they have struggled against them, only going 3-3 the last 3 years since Mahomes has been there, though Herbert in his first game as a starter last year (finding out he was starting 10 minutes before kickoff when he wasn't planned to start all year or worked with the first team offense) against the defending SB Champs had a big lead against them before losing in OT. Typically a pretty good matchup, regardless of how bad the Chargers were the last couple of years and how good the Chiefs were.

I would take you more seriously if your team didn't find more ways to lose games the past three years than Cater has pills.

They were 12-4 3 years ago including a drubbing of the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Edit: I guess that win was 4 years ago.
But Anthony Lynn as a coach was terrible and their D is far better with Derwin James who was out the last two seasons...they are 14-5 when James plays since he was drafted.
Asante Samuel Jr looking like a great 2nd round pick this year too.

It will always be an uphill battle when you play 17 road games a year.

You should root for cowboys then to drown your sorrows you should bandwagon whoever has the best qb in that year.

Go with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. Young and exciting. Get in early before they take over the league.
Arizona is kind of like the outback so there's that too.
I'd recommend my Dolphins but that would be cruel of me.

If you like new school football, watch the Cardinals.
If you like old school football, watch the Titans.
