Without Klay their team is one of the weakest teams in the West, they have added Porter (but they lost Paschall) and that is it.

Bjelica was not a rotation player for the Heat last year, not sure why he is gonna help them being a year older this season.

And Wiseman did not look good, he will need time to impact the game.

All in all I think they will not be a problem for us. I am more concerned about the Lakers.

Weakest teams in the west? They were the 8th seed who almost beat the Lakers with LeBron and AD in the first play in...it took a crazy shot by LeBron to win it. Annd they made a ton of additions. That is not nearly what their lineup will look like above.

MVP Curry was carrying that team solo to an 8th seed to almost beat the Lakers. Throw in some depth and an 80% Klay and they could certainly be a home court team in the West

It does depend some on how long Klay is out, but Wiggins is planned to start at 2 with Porter at the 3. Porter is a big upgrade from Oubre (if healthy) so they should still be pretty solid.

But if Utah is as good, the Lakers are as good when they are healthy, and we are as good as last year, it will be tough for them to keep up with our record.

I do not expect Klay to play enough to make a huge difference. Out for two years and yet injured.

They just added basically Otto Porter and lost Paschall. Iguodala is not playing more than 15 mpg and Kuminga is just 18 years old.

KD was out a year and a half and looked decent and Klay's game relies on a little less responsibility. Paschall is not that good. They also got Moses Moody in the lottery. Wiseman didn't play too much last year. He was basically the Ayton of his draft. Could make a pretty big difference. Porter is a career 40% 3pt shooter. Paschall is 30%.

Agreed 100%. Those guys do an amazing job. They are super bright, very informative, really know their stuff, and make the podcast super interesting without it digressing into nonsense like the Solar panel and they don't bore you to tears with ads every 5 seconds like locked on. I also enjoy Max and David's 7 seconds of less pod when they put that out.

Do they still release new episodes on the SSOL podcast? Everywhere I've looked, it doesn't seem like they've released anything in a long time.

Solar Panel is a tough listen. Just can't stand Espo. Suns Jam session podcast is a better.
Not regularly, but if you subscribe to David's newsletter, some of them have links to podcasts. Some during the playoff run but I can't remember if there was one for the off-season.

Is it enough to redeem the podcast and nullify Espo?

They started a new PHNX entire youtube channel/network that will cover all the sports. I love Lindsey but not sure about ESPO. Seems maybe Gerald was on it? Then some other guy I didn't much care for.

Lindsey didn't offer as much insight about what was being discussed because it was about how much to pay Bridges and she basically said "she isn't an expert and wasn't sure how it would impact cap/tax, other extensions, etc, so couldn't really give an informed opinion".

I hope she does interviews with players and they bring on guests. That's what she is great out. I could definitely do without ESPO. But they have a new twitter account and everything and it seems like they will have a lot of content. I imagine some different people when they cover the Cards and other sports but hopefully Lindsey all the time.

Here is the latest one...worth a follow...they have several PHNX twitter accounts and I think a youtube channel.

Good team specific podcast is a tricky business. It should be regular, but not too many becouse it gets boring after a while - simply there is not enough things to talk about on a daily show, not even during the season.
I tried most all for at least shorter periods of time, as I have to do lot of rehab excercises for my lower back. so I pretty much have an hour of time like 4 times a week. I got stuck on the Timeline, they are the closest to me. I also loved 7SOL, but they quit spotify, now they are on youtube from time to time under the name "The four point play". Locked on the Suns is also OK, but sometimes they produce too much stuff, and they end up saying the exact same things for 2-3 episodes, which is not too much fun, but they are short at least usually around 30 mins. This new PHNX sports seems to be the same a bit, but at least they do all sports (although I'm strictly a basketball guy, so don't care all that much about the rest). Espo is his usual bad self (I did listen to some of his other pods, but tuned out, he was too goofy for my taste, especially when they joked around Kobe a couple months ago- I found that tasteless, even though I did not like Kobe when he played). They also have to do a bit too much Draftkings commercials for my taste, but Lindsey is worth it.
General NBA I stick to The Ringer (really good insights especially when Raja is on), The Mismatch, The Lowe Post, and Simmons sometimes when I care to know what he thinks of an NBA topic, I usually skip the rest of his show.

Chasson Randle (born February 5, 1993) is an American professional basketball player who most recently played for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Lakeland Magic of the NBA G League.

He played college basketball for the Stanford Cardinal. As a senior in 2014–15, he was considered one of the top point guards in the country. Born in Rock Island, Illinois, Randle played basketball for Rock Island High School.

http://www.nba-draft.com/Chasson-Randle.html
Strengths
Right-handed… Randle is a lightning quick guard capable of playing either backcourt spot, but his future is set at the next level as a point guard given his lack of size and strength. But he is as electric as they come with the ball in his hands. His tight handle and ability to launch the ball from his hand and deliver it to a teammate can happen in a split-second. As long as his teammates are paying attention, they will likely catch the ball with limited advancement needed to score the basketball… Randle relentlessly attacks off the dribble due to his confidence and skill handling the ball with either hand, combined with an array of ball moves that keeps the defense on their heels. He utilizes hesitation moves well and favors finishing in the lane with a floater or runner. At the same time, Randle has a solid mid-range game and good range out to and beyond the 3-point arc.

Weaknesses
As mentioned above, Randle is talented and skilled enough to play either on the ball or off the ball offensively, but his lack of size, standing around 6-feet tall, and strength, weighing in around 170 pounds, means his future of success depends on his ability to play point guard full time. Yet, Randle has some work to do with his decision-making and ability to run a team. He is confident, bordering cocky, with his passes leading to turnovers from forcing the issue… His perimeter-shot is very strong, but is still too inconsistent for comfort…. Defensively, we would love to see Randle lock in more and using his long arms and quickness to harass the opposing guards and control the game on both ends of the floor.

https://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2021/9/22/22687684/phoenix-suns-bringing-pg-chasson-randle-to-training-camp

Randle, a four-year NBA veteran with five different teams, will join his sixth team with an Exhibit 10 deal.

He has averaged 5.7 points and 1.8 assists in 16 minutes per game over his four-year career.

I think to get some of their information - its about 50 bucks per year . Something like The Athletic. If you want for the first month, its 50 cents.

For that basketball roundtable with Espo, Gerald B and Lindsay - they are going to have Flex from NJ on often

I saw the Flex thing...good to bring in fans.

But charging to listen to those people? No thanks.

I really like Lindsey and Gerald to a lesser extent but not enough to put up listening to the rest of them.

Still can't believe they don't have a beat writer for The Athletic. It is really ridiculous.

They have one when we suck and not when we go to the finals.

They should hire Sam Cooper. If not him, David Nash maybe.

I guess I am unsure of Sam Cooper's writing ability, though it seems like he could turn what he says in his pods and youtube video breakdowns into pod stuff.

Nash is a solid writer.

Or maybe a beat writer who left another team, like Popper who moved to the Chargers and has been great. Gina was great for the Suns too.

As a matter of fact I just wrote them and let them know they need a Suns beat writer, mentioning those guys, how they should have one being a finals team (after having one when they were no good), how the Suns have a big fanbase, etc..

I was glad to see Gina Mizell get hired by the Philly Inquirer. She was such a good beat writer for the Suns. But she will be closer to NYC and Broadway - she loves the theatre.

And yes, not sure why The Athletic doesn't have a Suns beat writer. Bordow got laid off, Mizell as well. Makes no sense

I like Lindsay - Espo, not so sure. Gerald B is okay to me.

Popper is fantastic for the Chargers

Jourdan Roddrique is great for the Rams --
