The best trade to shake up the NBA is Ben Simmons, Tyrese Maxey, 2022 unprotected 1st to Portland Trail Blazers for Damian Lillard

Wait until the season starts...plenty of teams will underachieve and will get more desperate. No need to trade him now for trash.

Kings, answer is always Kings. You didn't pass on Luka for Bagley. Have some respect.

2018 kawhi required legit organizational culture to make it work. it couldve all fell apart easily bc of load management and uncle dennis. masai is the best in the biz there. not sure it works out in a place like philly. but who knows.

Its hard to replace Ben.
But you can upgrade our spacing and scoring with his departure that can possibly make us a better team.
What you’re really missing is Ben’s value as a trade asset. He is your annual ticket for a top tier star sweepstakes.
If push comes to shove, focus on getting trade assets (picks? Promising young player) than a player who can contribute for us right away. Then kick the can down the road again.
Dont box yourself in getting a “win now” player. It may not be available, and forcing yourself for one would either lead to nothing or overpaying. Let it come naturally. My take is, Morey just wants to use that “win now player or bust” demand as a leverage to get others to pay more for Ben.

I don't think there's any chance of that trade happening anytime soon. I don't think that fits the value, or the team direction of Portland if Lillard wants out.
That's along the lines of what Philly wants, and exactly what a team like Portland wants no part of.

That's a tough one... on one hand I understand this want. However, that's just not a palatable direction for most teams with an MVP candidate and top 5-7 NBA player on board in his prime. I think the borderline obsession with "the process" on this particular board at times undermines the inherent risk of "pick." Let's say that Simmons is traded to the Cavs/Wolves for Sexton or Beasley and some picks. It's not out of the realm of plausibility that either of those teams take a large step forward and look like 6th-8th seeds going forward. In which case all of those assets bring you further away from bringing in an all-star level player than the Ben centric trade was from that outcome.
Both Beasley and Sexton may have nice counting stats, however you're relying on either guy breaking decidedly negative impact stats to be of value.
I don't think the want is necessarily out of place, I just think the massive risk of disaster is being ignored and mitigated perhaps incorrectly in not getting guaranteed positive impact back.

It's a lot like what's being offered for Simmons right now, it's along the lines of what every team wants and all of the offers is exactly what a team like Philadelphia wants no part of.

Sure... however, much of that has to do with Philly's team direction. I don't think Philly has the pieces that a Portland wants for a post-Lillard era, while I think that A METRIC **** TON of other teams have much more appealing pieces and are likely to put them on the table. Part of Philly's problem in that they want a better player than Simmons and no one is interested in that swap. If a bunch of youth and picks was palatable with the primary though being using those picks and rebuilding, I think a deal would have been done by now.
The problem I see is that Philly wants to turn Simmons into more value than he's currently worth, either to nab a better player, or to turn it around for a better player. It's just not happening at this point, and it is quite frankly understandable why. The difference in situations is clear and concise, if Lillard wants out, the Blazers are likely to look for rebuilding assets and/or a player who has the versatility to be either a potential primary piece or supplementary piece with whoever they have a shot at drafting through their own picks if/when they stink post-Lillard.
Other than a couple of fairly unreasonable asks for the 76ers to shut down Embiid and go Robinson-injury Spurs into the upcoming season there's a general idea here of "squeezing water from a stone"... there just doesn't seem to be much of a market for turning Simmons into a better player. It's understandable due to the reality that Simmons hasn't proven himself to be a good rebuilding piece.

The team will tire of being asked about Ben every time. Puts a lot of pressure on his replacement too
this will get ugly and the sports media in this city are going to love it lol
I mean, if our biggest fear are the media, then I really don't know what to say...I do think that the Sixers can withstand a bit of media pressure, they are not that pathetic.

It's funny, I keep hearing all this talk (more like disingenuous concerns) about Embiid's prime years potentially being wasted. Yet, teams like the Warriors, Wolves, Kings, ARE NOT being pressured to put together a GENUINE offer that could elevate their franchise out of the dumpster.
If you want to bring up team direction... it has to fit both sides. A lot of what the Spurs, or Cavs and Raptors (the other bunch) are trying to do is sell a knockoff Gucci bag at a premium in hopes of obtaining the actual bag. This whole thing is about making Ben look bad yet victimized but somehow making the Sixers organization, and Morey for the most part look even worse. Fortunately Morey knows just how much this organization has screwed up in the past and he's not gonna risk his reputation by further expanding the failures of this franchise.

All of this waaaaa Doc threw Ben under the bus, waaaaa you're wasting Embiid's prime. I don't know anybody outside of Philadelphia that gives a crap about Embiid's prime being wasted. But hey... lets use that as motivation to get the Sixers to accept John Wall for Ben, among other cluster **** worth of offers. Morey will have to be the adult in the room in not cave under pressure.

What do you do with playmaking if you bring back a spacer and scorer?

Rich Paul read the room wrong. There isn't a Sixers fan who lives/lived in Philly that doesn't respond to Ben's demands with pound sand. I hope he sits out the whole year.
All you clowns with poo poo platter offers can go wring out your slick panties. It ain't happening. Your teams slop, playing with Embiid, is the same as Simmons sitting out the year. Not championship caliber.

This is self-inflicted, fans were super supportive of him, even during a playoff run where he shot 31% from the FT line.
