So with Rosas out, does that mean KAT and Ant are back on the table?
I sure as hell hope not

I don't think this is Simmons related.
If anything, it might very loosely point to trading KAT, DLo, Beasley for rebuilding packages so new ownership can build something of their own...if it were a vision related issue.
Sure, they could have done this to prevent a Simmons trade as well, something that could require picks and flexibility.
I doubt it was related to giving a stronger offer for Simmons, we were aggressive there and Rosas had a working relationship with Morey. If we wanted Simmons the best chance would have been with Rosas behind it.

You don’t suck for 7 straight years, win the KAT lottery, trade him who’s only 25 yrs old with a trio nucleus were most excited for since the MV3.

If I bought this team, I would build around ANT and McDaniels. A few other players could be kept, Reid, Nowell, Bolmaro, Vanderbilt. DLo has a head full of rocks, KAT is soft. While it might not work out I would enjoy trying to do better. Believe it or not owners want something of their own, lots of ego in play.
I don't think that is why Rosas was fired either, though.

I'm hoping it means no special attachment to Russell, not sure if he really has value though anyway to facilitate a trade

Thus proving Simmons’ value has plummeted so much that an NBA team was willing to risk a fine not to be publicly linked to him - even in rumors.

I just can’t throw the towel in on kat even thought everything you say about him is true. He’s had bad coaches, teammates, recently bad luck with his wrist injuries and certainly personal bad luck with the pandemic.
But i understand why others would want to trade him. He’s still young in my book, entering his prime years with his best team assembled around him. I think this team can be better than the Butler team that was well on its way to winning 50 games until Jimmy got hurt .

I think nothing changes directionally, for what it is worth; this situation had nothing to do with basketball.

With two faced Rosas out I feel a lot better about trades.

ESPN NBA Rank put Simmons #28, behind #27 Jaylen Brown.

One thing I wonder about is how much freedom Gupta actually has to negotiate and make a major trade. The organization is in complete disarray at the moment, which seems like a bad time to be trying to work on a franchise altering deal. I also worry about Glen Taylor becoming more involved in trade talks, since he seems pretty terrible at most everything related to actual basketball decisions.

In short: He will not have freedom. Certainly not to give up long-term assets.
He will eventually be fired without even having a chance of developing anything. Poor position to be in. I hope he at least gets a sizeable salary increase.

Yet, when I say I am not sure he is a top 30 player, while admitting there is subjective wiggle room, some act like I am speaking braille. That, that is not a reasonable position. Just saying...

Two (3?) years ago, MIN had five guys in their Top 100, including Jeff Teague.
I don’t believe anyone can be a top 30 player in today’s NBA if they can’t shoot.

Rudy G not top 30 for you?

Perfect comp. Tough for me, since Gobert has put up historic numbers, in shots altered and in lowered number of shots in the paint, but yes, I wouldn’t be able to put him in a Top 30.
With 30 teams in the NBA, that would make him (or Simmons), the number one player on someone’s team. I can’t see that, especially with some teams having two players (and 3 in BRK) that are clearly better.

Heh. Problem is everybody ranked around Simmons can shoot the ball, likely.
