Hot take alert: KAT will be the next superstar to request a trade. Gupta is too smart to be involved in Simmons in anything other than a discount, which Morey will not be offering. So KAT is going to get pissy that his friend isn't coming and the team is going to suck to start the year and boom, trade request.

My theory is Rosas was willing to go all in and give up Anthony Edwards for four years of Ben Simmons and that KAT is now pissed that the odds of getting Simmons have plummeted.

That was from August. Interesting. I'm not sure who has been having the conversations, but I'd imagine the ownership has restricted his involvement in trade conversations and that'll heat up more in the next few weeks as things get solidified.

Digesting some of the chatter on Reddit, some are speculating that the new owners wanted to make a splash and that Rosas resigned because he refused to go through with the Simmons trade. If that’s accurate, we might be about to get Anthony Edwards.

Chatter on Sixers or Wolves reddit?

If that's the case, why elevate Gupta? Gupta would seem to be even more against trading assets for Simmons than Rosas was. He's also way too credentialed to be a Brand type yes man. I'm not buying Minnesota as the eventual Simmons destination. I think it'll end up the Kings.

I saw it in the NBA Reddit. Some of the chatter is that Rosas had an affair with the PR director and that will leak out in the coming days, but there’s also a lot of chatter of the new owners wanting to make their mark.

I refuse to believe any of this is real until IceManBK1 comes here and put it in his weekly fantasy trade for Ben

BTW, Doc Rivers going full-Ronnie from Jersey Shore and denying even though there's video is legit hilarious and makes me respect his gall. What a boss play.

I think a Ben to MIN trade is more likely now.
They could possibly even reroute Edwards and a 1st to OKC for Shai.
MIN gets Simmons and 2022 PHI 1st
OKC gets Edwards, Layman, Milton, 2024 PHI 1st, and 2026 PHI 1st
PHI gets Shai, Prince, and 2025 owed 1st returned from OKC

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Meh, i like Edwards but hes years away from being a real impact player who can be 1B or even a #2 in a championship team.
In the best case scenario where he develops to his potential, Embiid wont be an MVP calibeer player anymore and probably even a bad contract. I dont think Embiid can last at this level for more than 2 or 3 years.
Also Edwards is very talented for sure and could be great but i wouldnt be shocked if ends up being an overrated chucker, like a Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis or something like that.
I mean, given we are in a very difficult situation with Simmons playing hard ball while also not getting that much interest on him around the league, i know Edwards would be a good consolation prize. But i think its very likely we are not a significant better team with him for the next few years, which is what we have left to compete with Embiid in his prime.

Edwards and maxey give you a strong back court for the next ten years. Edwards scored 20 a game with two ball hogs on his team. He can develop with the sixers off the bench and as he grows he can take over for curry or green. He’s going to be an all star no doubt in my mind. We get better now bc Simmons isn’t playing for us and we have a strong future.

Simmons + Milton + three FRPs for Shai? I love Shai but damn...
I'd rather just do Simmons + Shake for Edwards + Prince and see where that gets us. Even if Edwards isn't an immediate impact player he can be used as the centerpiece for Beal/Dame.
Maxey/Curry/Springer
Edwards/Korkmaz/Joe
Green/Thybulle/Prince
Harris/Niang/Reed
Embiid/Drummond/Bassey
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

It’s really only two 1sts. The one they already owe to OKC, they’re just moving it out a year. And there would be some sort of protections on the 2026 pick.
Ben’s value has taken a hit, and we would be remiss not to acknowledge that. Beal or Lillard would be Ben and 3 1sts now. I’d rather have Shai than either of those 2.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
After what Edwards just did as a 19 year old, I'm not worried about him taking a while to become a winning contributor. I think he's even further along than R.J. Barrett, who already is a 2nd leading scorer on a playoff team.

Theres nothing in my lifetime as a Philadelphia sports fan that lets me think we are this lucky lol. Praying for Edwards, expecting Beasley.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
There should be absolutely no bleeping rush to trade him…
Hold him out until the trade deadline, teams will know if they’re contenders by then and may be willing to make bigger moves. Said it before but what if the Kings are 5 games under .500 and Davion looks like a stud? They could end up willing to deal Fox…the list goes on
It also takes money out of the pocket of that rat Rich Paul and tarnishes his reputation.
Win win?

Fair. It still seems steep for a player who isn't at least a surefire top 15-20 player. I think Dame is that already and will be for another 3-4 seasons. Beal will likely hover around 20-25.
Shai is a promising young guard putting up great numbers on a losing team. Idk if I pay Simmons + two 1sts for that. Just my perspective, I could be way off.
