That kinda makes the point. She's clearly qualified as she has announced for the Olympics, Pac-12, NFL, etc, etc and is one of "a handful" to do it. I don't think her commentary is disqualifying; she'll likely say similar things to Zumoff. And that's usually how it is for the female PBP, they likely have to work harder to get to this stage and are largely disliked. I literally just saw a Twitter thread that said "as long as she's nothing like Doris Burke, I'm fine with it". So obviously there is an inherent dislike for a female announcer.

Perhaps they should have hired the Theranos CEO who is faking her comically deep voice to appease sensitivities.

If she's good people will be fine with her as an announcer. Of course there will be those who have personal agendas, but that's always the case in anything.

But PBP announcing is entirely subjective. There is no objectively great PBP person. You can be on the ball with everything, but their voices simply may not resonate with people.

I think the most likely reception is most people won't approve because she's following Zumoff, and from the clips I heard she sounded pretty meh, and then there will be people who go overboard in praise on social media for virtue signal points.

Definitely not excited about the pick, but I didn’t really have anybody in mind for the job anyway.

The play-by-play person just needs to skillfully complement the action. The color analyst I find more important that they have a particular knowledge base.

When Zumoff left, we realized he may have had the highest approval rating in the city, so, similar to Harry Kalas, we need to give the his replacement a chance to grow.

I never got the whole needs to be a Philly guy thing. I think the play-by-play person just has to be really good at enhancing the viewing experience.
