Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
This team isn't getting Murray. You aren't getting Edwards either. Summers over, we're now apart of the peak optimism stage for essentially every team in the league. Every player on your own roster seems a bit better than you last remembered. All of your old underperforming vets are going to have a strong year and are totally valuable assets again. Every young player is going to continue on the trend of outrageous linear improvement, because it's totally realistic.
Assets like SGA, Edwards, Murray etc can only be pried out in times of desperation. In any Simmons deal, Philadelphia is the desperate party, no matter how hard the front by this organization is. Morey is the one with the dark clouded asset on a win now roster, teams aren't lining up to overpay for this guy. He isn't a James Harden or Anthony Davis caliber of superstar that immediately puts your team in title contention, and he has very obvious flaws that make him a challenge to build around.
Expect a return relative to how you as a collective rate Simmons. Wall + a pick, Minnesota garbage + picks, Sexton + a pick or two etc.
Anything more is copium.

If simmons is as bad as all of you think and are saying the sixers should be a better team with him gone this year right?

I think most acknowledge that they'll be worse in the regular season this year. Whatever we get back, we'll probably be better in the playoffs.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Why would the Nuggets trade for Ben? They just gave Gordon a huge extension and having Ben out there diminish Jokic's post-ups.
Not to mention between Jokic and Murray he would not see the ball
The "insiders" who leak stuff like this are just desperate for clicks man

I wonder if Klutch would combat a Simmons for Edwards swap, given that they represent both players? Same goes for any hypothetical LaVine-Simmons swap.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Brian Windhorst won't shut up (just kidding, I like Windy) about how Rich Paul doesn't let his business with one player/team influence the way he deals with another player and that team. This would be a test of that, I guess.

0 years playing in the NBA but a functioning brain and two eyes that can see.
I think you should see an eye doctor at a minimum and if yours eyes check out a neurologist b/c then you know it's an issue with the brain.

I've noticed that Raptors fans on these boards always have more +1 than they do actual posts. Does your entire fanbase just circle jerk each other's posts to make yourselves feel smarter and more relevant as a fanbase?
Just curious.

Actually I was wrong...
Reddit has a pretty interesting nugget (pun intended) of Ben to Denver.

I think this is more or less the brainpower here coming from us lol. Market needs/wants etc.
It’s a Morey move though. CJ would probably be the last name on the list when all other options are exhausted. The hard is forced (expected the Simmons move to have been done ages ago).
Morey is trying to get the best deal possible and not get fleeced.
Never doubt the wisdom of the crowd.

I think EVERYONE would agree to this from our side, Ben apologists and Ben haters. Can't see why Denver does this. I'd hang up the phone if I were them lol.
Assuming Biid stays relatively healthy 1st half of the season. It'd be great to see Maxey and Tisse develop and have Murray after the all star break.
Just don't see it happening, but would be a Best case scenario. Better than Lillard or Beal just based on age alone
I don't care what people think. People are stupid.

What defense? Overlap too. Maxey’s archetype isn’t very valuable fwiw.
I think MPJ is more likely on the table.
Jokic is Dirk+. He can make Ben and rag tags into a much better offensive system than Embiid ever could.
Embiid is more or less Hakeem (heavy volume scorer not a playmaker, + A+ tier defense).
Murray and Maxey don't really overlap: Maxey is a slasher while Murray is more of a shooter. If Maxey can draw more fouls, then he's extremely valuable. He can get wherever he wants on the court.
Defense doesn't matter. We have Danny Green and Thybulle to defend the other team's best perimeter scorer. Joel/Drummond will have to defend the rim more so than in years past.
The best part will be Tobias going back to his Clippers role. We won't need him being a 3+ apg player because we'll have two alpha ballhandlers in the backcourt who will create offense for him. He can be more C&S, which is what we need from him. Additionally, we'll always have a legitimate scorer on the court at all times who can run the offense.
MPJ doesn't work from a contract standpoint. Murray is the only one that works.

Jokic and Simmons on the same team makes no sense to me but hey if we could get MPJr. + salary fillers and/or picks I'm in. That gives us 1-4 shooters if Maxey develops the three. To me MPJr. is a budding star with that killer instinct we need to close out games. 45% from 3. That is the type of trade I can get behind bc he did this as their number 3 so he knows how to work off other players.

Jokic is a near 40% 3FG shooter on decent volume (for a center). He's also excellent in his faceup game. While Embiid is a decent 3FG shooter and has a bit of a faceup game, it's not in the same realm. The only thing that doesn't make sense is Aaron Gordon on that team, otherwise Will Barton, MPJ, Jeff Green, Monte Morris, etc are all excellent 3pt shooters. The tandem distribution of Jokic and Ben would get those guys a ton of open shots. Also, Ben still won't be looked to as a scorer, so he can continue to marinate in his complacency. It all works out!

Jokic and Ben are really good compliment.
If im Nuggets, I’d offer Murray and Aaron Gordon for Ben and Maxey.
Maybe i’d counter with something like Ben and Milton for Murray and Gordon.

So we get Murray and redshirt him and Embiid this year? How good can the team be next year with a high lotto plus Murray? That's championship equity!

I feel like you're not reading what others are saying. Gordon cannot be traded for many more months.

Their 3FG percentages are almost equal on equal volume last year. Not to mention that the reason for Joel almost wining the MVP last season was the fact he became an elite face up shoter and has a letal midrange.
Ben playing along Jokic would make Doubling Jokic on the post a valid strategy, something that is not possible for teams to do currently and the basis of his entire success.

In my opinion the only way it makes sense is if they are getting Seth back too. It stings but if that’s what it takes to get someone morey views as a real number 2 next to Joel then I would do it
