I wonder what Iverson is thinking right now. Or what gifs Butler is texting to Embiid.

Fultz never went after the fans, just the organization. Simmons is worse, but I don’t think THIS will ever happen again where two back to back first overall picks either wouldn’t or couldn’t shoot. It’s the most befuddling thing in basketball history, IMO. Simmons should have been one of the all-time greats. He still has a shot, but it will never happen here.
And he can’t keep ducking Philly forever. One day, he’s just going to have to come back and face the fans again. Not going to lie. I’m a bit concerned about the fans behaving themselves at that game.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Here’s a recent excerpt from a Wolves poster who is in the minority:
“ But on the flip side, couldn't there be somebody whisper in Lore's ear that we won the lottery with Ant, we also got a stud late in the first in McDaniels, why not cash in on the lottery ticket now when he is worth a proven All-Star on a long-term deal in Simmons, establishing a true Big 3 with guys on the same timeline and the potential to keep those 3 for 8-some years (there is a universe where this happens). Plus, you still keep a player in McDaniels who has the potential (and the fit mind you) to become that 4th guy in a couple years.
I know this is sacrilegious but I am going for it: Simmons for Ant, Beverley (Rosas' guy (and Morey's guy)), Okogie, Layman. The trade actually puts us below the luxury tax, but we would only have 11 guys, so we would need to add 2 more..
Edwards was Rosas' guy. I think he got the pick right. But there is no guarantee he develops into the player Simmons is right now. Does Gupta and/or Lore feel the same way?”

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Thinking that the team isolated Ben is just a bonkers narrative.
They supported him going to LA every summer and not wanting to do the planed routines the team designed for him, they rejected to put him on the table when we had the option to trade for Kawhi, Brett never did anything with his "i want ben to take one three a game", the team didn't want to extend Jimmy in part to coddle Ben, hell the team fired Brett in a big part to accomodate Ben again.
Not to mention how the fans got behind Ben several times, including his entire Free throws struggles the last playoffs.
To now act like Ben has been so trashed and throw under the bus just because Joel said something about a play while also criticizing himself and Doc didn't defend him for the first time in one entire season, it's just madness.

Has Simmons signed an endorsement deal with Charmin yet? Klutch needs to get on that asap.

I think this is worse because it's been such a dragged out, multiyear ordeal. And Fultz was a more sympathetic figure. Simmons is just a villain to the core.

Serious question. Can Elton Brand be a part of the trade? Or would it have to be a separate transaction? And it seems impossible that Gupta would carry out a trade that involves his replacement.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Simmons is an over sensitive wuss and pampered baby. The thrown under the bus thing is bullcrap, Embiid and Doc were mild in their description of how badly our bus driver played on offense in the entire series. He played afraid, there is just no other way to say it, and now he is afraid of Philly fans because they saw and they know.
And I was a big Simmons believer and supporter, but year after year of not improving his offensive skills lead to this. He didn't need to be out there nailing step back threes. Working on his touch and moves around the rim, a solid floater and his free throws plus the occasional pull up jumper from 10-12 feet would have done wonders for Ben's game, but no, he never developed any of that or was afraid to fail before he could succeed. Four shots in a game seven from your PG, just utterly ridiculous. The pass to Thybulle was merely the shot never taken heard round the world. Enough.

Jon Gruden was traded for picks..not sure what the NBA rule is...I'm guessing it would have to be a separate transaction

Doc Rivers was traded from the Celtics to the Clippers for a first round pick.
But yeah it would be a separate transaction.

Our own coach was traded from Boston to LA iirc.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Also, Ben's only use at the end is to roll to the basket.

I think there is a plausible scenario like this where Minny gets convinced to move Edwards for Simmons. It would be pretty easy to convince themselves that they could turn Simmons around by surrounding him with two old, supportive friends (KAT & DLo) who are more natural fits with him on the court. Add in the the Minny fan base is less critical and is starved for a competitive team and it makes for a compelling situation.
But we’ll just have to wait and see if that scenario actually plays out or is just speculation by both fanbases. It would definitely be a lot of fun to see Ant play with Embiid but there would be some major growing pains since we’d leaning pretty heavily on Maxey/Ant to grow up fast.

Contracts:
Lillard 43.7
Simmons 31.5
Green 10
Maxey 2.6
Edwards 10.2
Beverley 14.3
Mcdaniels? 2
Blazers - Edwards, Maxey, Green, Beverley, Wolves 1st, Sixers 1st
(Cut Smith JR, Chriss, Cook not fully guaranteed contacts)
Wolves - Simmons, Sixers 1st
Sixers - Lillard
Is this even semi realistic?
- Blazers get a big start on a reset. Franchise potential in Antman, young guard in Maxey, picks, old vets. Highly enticing as a Klutch agent to be the face. Maybe that is the kicker here for the long view.
- Wolves get Simmons and the GM’s position is eased in pleasing Towns/DLO. It’s better than the scenario of Towns/DLO and Antman leaving for nothing.
- We get our “munchkin” guard and go for broke.
Seems to me all three parties are served on what they need, all priorities and angles are accounted for here.
