I didn't see them face off any, unless Murphy has a size advantage I don't know what she has for Shevchenko.

Wasn't good. Could have been worse.

That was a round.
He might have been saved by the bell there.

Volk is insane. Escaping those two submissions in the third was something.

Apparently Nick only had a 6 week camp. Wanted to fight later in the year but they basically forced this date on him.

Re: UFC 266 this weekend
watching the event now...holy God, Merab vs Moraes and Lawler vs Diaz have been Hagler-Hearns type fights. Two of the best fights I've ever seen.
If anyone didn't watch that Merab fight (last of the prelims), you've absolutely got to.

Just watched the main event...holy good God, that was awesome.
Shame on that doctor who checked on Ortega after round 3. Ortega failed every last task the doctor assigned. He had no idea what was going on. He didn't even understand the instructions. He was following something along the ground at one point.
That said, Ortega won the 5th (2 judges scorecards notwithstanding). Which is nuts in own right.

No clue what he was on about during the post fight.
LOL
That is an exact description of every Diaz punch ever thrown. His hands looked identical to every other fight.

Re: UFC 266 this weekend
I wonder if the Diaz fight would have gone down differently if he hadn't tried that stupid running side kick at the start. He immediately took like 15 hard punches and became backed against the fence. That's no way to start your first fight in 6 years.
Still, his cardio looked great. No need breaths despite the crazy pace of that first round and a combined like 300 punches or something. Nevermind that most of them were misses or glances, which is exhausting.
Robbie had simply gameplanned that he wasn't going to take a back step. His will is incredible. No one has pulled that off before. The most thorough denuding of Nick was Carlos Condit...who did the exact opposite...namely, moved backwards and angled off.

His strikes were NOTICEABLY slower than any of his previous fights and had less pop behind them than ever. That wasn’t the same Diaz in terms of his striking or how he appeared physically.
And some of it’s a knock on him, some of its not. He wasn’t in ideal shape, but the other half is he’s just a lot older than when we last saw him.

Re: UFC 266 this weekend
First professional fight in 6 years and he looked gassed and slow.
Plus he's 38, were surprised he fell apart like that?
At least Lawler is taking L's from Magney/Colby and other top guys and at least hanging around. Diaz has been out for a long time

Yeah that fight was great..
The diaz lawler fight was awful though.. I really dont get what people liked about it. Was depressing. Nostalgia i guess. That spinning back kick to start the fight just set the tone. He through good volume with 0 power. He looked slow and fat. It really wasnt a good performance. He gave up coz he didnt want to be there and everything he said before and after confirms that.

Yeah he answered everything wrong until he got one right and herms like ok continue. On top of that his team had to pick him up off the canvas at the end of the round. Which is apparently not legal. Should have been stopped. Credit to him though, hes tough.

He wasnt even ready to fight, he was forced into it. Trained for 6 weeks only.

The fight was announced on 7/13 by Dana White. You had to figure he and Lawler knew about the fight a week or so before that maybe? But even if they didn’t, 7/13 to 9/25 is close to two and a half months. And then on top of that, he was the one posting pictures/videos earlier in the year, where he was in much better shape than he was on fight night.
I like watching the Diaz’s as much as the next guy, but they’re so full of **** when they lose a fight. It’s always, “I’m not gonna make any excuses… but listen to all these excuses so you know what I was going through.” Always some BS sob story.
