Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
I think Russell benefits tremendously from playing with Simmons. That would allow him to go back to playing off the ball a lot more than he currently does, where he thrives with his movement and assisted shotmaking. Russell is so talented on the ball that teams get tricked into thinking he needs to play there all the time. Truth is, he's at his best when he can play both on and off the ball.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Wolves would definitely be a fun team with a Ben, DLo, KAT trio. Not sure who else would be involved in the trade to make salaries work but that foundation has a lot of potential, which is why it’s easy to see why they want Ben so badly.
It wouldn’t be an easy choice to trade a popular, charismatic rookie for the current league pariah. But the combo of talent, fit, and the desire of new ownership to make a splash and get into the playoffs will probably win out. There are plenty of rumors that the new owners would love to move the team out of Minneapolis and the quickest way to win fans over is to start winning some games ASAP.

Personally, I think Garland and Ben would be a better fit. Im also not that high on Garland compared to Sexton
How so? I think Garland is obviously a class above Sexton. Size aside (he has better defensive capabilities) he’s a budding 20/7 guy which for me is the modern threshold for being a PG in this league.
Very good playmaking is vital for an Embiid centric offense.
If Sexton goes which the Cavs are alluded too Garland is going to breakout and then some.

Massive overpay to GSW, decent return on trade #2, and Kuminga is not close to starting on a contending team, plus that team is defensively weak AF. Also, Wiggins is less appealing than ever and that is saying a lot.

Depends what Morey values most, Garland is more an all round PG than Sexi who is a more happy trigger kinda guy - both have great futures if you ask me.
Even better futures if they are paired with a Larger guard.
if i’m the cavs i wouldn’t trade garland for simmons straight up. Younger, had a skill (shooting) that more easily has an identifiable role on a winning team.
Plus, everyone seems to think he’s going to go supernova soon. Steph curry used the phrase “going to be a flat out stud” when taking about Garland
He’s one of my boys. My boys do well, that it is all. Garland is class. He’s a mix of Conley with an Irving handle.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Midway this season onto next season. Bookmark it that’s the breakout point
He screams All Star Talent. First half of the video it’s Kobbles favorite “unassisted iso, shot creating ya dada buckets” next half is more exciting to me, the playmaking is A one stuff.
Funny watching Cavs games, when Sexton has the ball, the bigs (Nance, Allen, Love, Wade) all sort of meander in the motions... When Garland has the ball they are all up and about. It’s clear they really like one and are meh on the other lol.
Can’t wait for Garland to actually play the majority of the lead guard role and not share with a tunnel vision/shot happy player. Nothing wrong with those types but it is when the better class player is stuck behind.
Watch especially for 0:46. There’s a lot of irony in that play, Sexton has his hands up like Garland did something wrong. Lol some players really do have the NFI’s/2cent heads on them. My man you do that all the time.

Simmons is only efficient because he doesn't do anything.
Average shot distance:
Ben Simmons: 4.3 feet
DeJounte Murray: 12.6 feet
Percent assisted inside the arc:
Ben Simmons: 40.7%
DeJounte Murray: 27.5%
Murray is scoring unassisted buckets inside the arc and taking jumpshots. Simmons is doing neither of those things.
This is correct.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Garland is definitely more true PG who can score while Sexton is an undersized scoring guard who can play-make at times, more of a super Lou Williams sort, which has definite value, but he needs to come with more in any package to make up for not being the same kind of player Garland can be.
Garland, Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton are the three young guys I would definitely see as fair compensation for Simmons and any package built around them would be for salary matching and asset balancing.
Sexton requires additional players and draft picks as does the Spurs package which is full of 'nice' but not really impactful players. The Spurs packages proposed here are meh, and only really work if you think Maxey has a big breakout in him, which I do, but it is a gamble since they are mainly roleplayer types.

Simmons and Jokic are the perfect duo, and Murray is too injury prone, good for Denver.

Actually Simmons has been selected for THREE all-star games because coaches love him.

That's the strangest part about all of this. We are the only fanbase that has defended him his entire career. Everyone else has treated him like a punchline.
Ben should just quit the NBA and do something else. He's not going to enjoy an NBA career in any location.

But Philadelphia gets that reputation for some odd reason. With Fultz too like he wasn't protected like an innocent baby lamb from the rest of the cruel world. He doesn't gets two whole years to go on a catholic mission, a spiritual awakening world tour and a program to relearn the fundamentals of how to shoot a basketball in any other city.

He has to be aware. Ben and Klutch are using the Philly fan stigmata to try and deflect from what the whole nation witnessed in the Atlanta series. Pretty sure nobody's buying what he and Rich Paul are selling.Stanford wrote:Kobblehead wrote:If Ben Simmons could routinely hear what players, GMs, and fans across the league thought of him, he wouldn't suit up for anyone or play in front of any city.

Last one on Ben.
If he does to decide to up and leave basketball for good to pursue a pro gaming career the memes would be endless:
“You SHOoT WoRse Than U PLAY NBA RoFL!”
“WHAT A CAMPER!”
“LOLOLOL NOT KLUTCH BEN!”
“Since Wen WAZ HE EVa a Shoooota?”
I mean this writes itself lol. If Ben thinks the NBA community can be harsh wait until he’s in the spotlight for gaming. Kids, trolls and neck beards are savages!.... more so than his gamer tag

yeah agreed. Last time we saw murray in the playoffs we was carrying the nuggets some games almost single handily. You don’t trade those types for someone who’s afraid to shoot when the pressure is on
