I am a little surprised Philadelphia let it reach Media Day. Do they really think Simmons will change his mind, and show up in front of PHI media?

Anyway, I am curious how this looks in PHI. Are Embiid and Doc going to accept responsibility for adding to this mess? Anyone who’s ever played team sports knows that you never throw a teammate under a bus, especially at the worst moment in Ben’s life.

I wonder if the press will be informed the team and players will not answer questions on Simmons.

This is really repairing Simmons value and it is frankly amazing how calm and composed leadership is in Philly. The truth is on their side no need to lie about anything even if there is video evidence. Well done, 4d Chess!!!!

I don't see these media day snippets as assisting in convincing Ben to return - UNLESS Ben wants an excuse to return to Philly, an outcome that, from what I read, he rejects at this point. These statements are self-serving, not convincing, and appear more focused on rehabilitating the Coach's credibility with his team - i.e "I won't through you under the bus when we don't succeed - really I won't" - than actually apologizing for doing just that to BS in the heat of the moment.

From the very beginning, and I actually think I was the first to propose it, I thought Beasely, McDaniels and two firsts was the most Rosas would be willing to offer. Based on the analysis from Philly beat writers, it seems like that type of package might be the one Morey is forced to make..

That's the best case scenario for us in all of this.

Not to diminish how badly Doc, Embiid, Morey and scary PHI fans and media damaged Ben, but I think this significantly reduces Ben’s trade value.

If he won’t honor his contract in PHI when he’s upset, why would he honor his contract on a new team if he gets upset? He has demonstrated you can’t force him to work for the money.

How many assets do you want to give up, when you add in this new risk? Trading for an expiring greatly reduces it’s value - what if the player won’t give you even a year if he gets upset?

It’s a good point. Any team trading for Ben will want to talk to him first before executing the trade. Would Ben tell Cleveland he would refuse to play for them too?

I doubt he’d go that far but who knows what Rich Paul is willing to do

Angry PHI posters must be struggling with their hypocrisy.

On one side of their mouth, they want to blame Ben, but on the other, they want people to believe he has a ton of trade value, and his issues (shooting, confidence, lack of development, and unwillingness to report) would NEVER affect his next team.

Philly needs a PG in the deal coming from somewhere. Twolves giving up the value you described is however, on point.

Philly seems to torpedo itself every chance it gets. They knew they would face media scrutiny and it appears they knowingly took this as an opportunity to kneecap itself. Why?

I still don't think any of this forces Morey to take bad deal. I still think he holds out until he can get a good packaged. Maybe not a kings ransom but he is going to get some good value before he trades Ben and I don't know if a team will step up with one soon.

Of course he doesn't take a bad deal. The Wolves will step up with a good deal of Beasley, McDaniels, 2 FRPs and maybe Patrick Beverley.

The problem is teams are already offering good value and Philly prolonging the situation isn't helping. They are hoping to get more, when they are inviting his value to decrease. The are basically doing or have done the opposite of what they need to do to get the most from him.
