We were at the very least a favorite to make the conference finals. Didn't see the video, but this quote sounds like he's selling the team short to mitigate the failure.

True. I think it is impressive that they finished first in the conference given the overhaul of staff. It's less impressive when you look closer, but that's the miracle bit, I guess.

Doc knows that it's socially acceptable to be a dick in public to Howard Eskin. It's encouraged, really. That's why he did it. He wasn't bravely taking back his right to speak. And Howard barely interrupted him. It sounded like he was finished answering based on his words and cadence.

I'm really not liking this guy.

Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? Doc had just as bad of a coaching performance it was horrible. I get why he blows leads (by game twenty I saw something that was dumbfounding) and consistently underperforms relative to the talent he works with.
