Reddish to Houston

Post#1 » by K_chile22 » Tue Sep 28, 2021 3:05 pm

Rockets send: 2022 better of MIA and BKN (Miami swap option is lotto protected so in that case it would just be the BKN pick), Danuel House

Hawks send: Cam Reddish, best and worst of their three 2023 seconds (so the Hawks keep the middle one)

Hawks maintain depth at the wing but avoid a potential stand off paying reddish along with all their other wings, get a first to potentially replace him

Rockets get a 22 yo 3 who fits in nicely as a defender next to KPJ and Green, hope shooting comes around

The Hawks should do this but they were asking for a better pick than that over the Summer. This is probably a deadline deal if Reddish doesn't make a jump between now and then.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Fair enough, hadn't seen what specific range they were looking for but I'll take your word for it. If that's the case not sure taking out the seconds helps all that much

The reality is the Hawks probably want a 1st for Reddish. Based on his production to date and lack of development between years 1 and 2, I dont think he's worth a 1st especially when a guy like House is included who has value IMO. It is going to be difficult for the Hawks to give Reddish an opportunity to improve his trade value especially when they Im sure want to give Jalen Johnson enough minutes this upcoming season.

Houston is a great spot though and if Hawks were shopping Reddish, this might be the best deal now. I don't expect to see Reddish in a Hawks uniform beyond TD, if not sooner.

This is far better than the Cavs version in that Atlanta gets some actual value and gets back a veteran who can replace his minutes this year.

I think I'd still pass as Atlanta, but its a fair and reasonable offer imo and like the idea for Houston.

Re: the 2023 2nds... I'm not sure where you're getting that ATL has three 2nds. I believe Atlanta only has two 2nds that year, one is protected and one is a swap.

https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

2023 second round draft pick from New Orleans
New Orleans' 2023 2nd round pick to Atlanta protected for selections 31-45 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then New Orleans' obligation to Atlanta will be extinguished) [Atlanta-New Orleans, 7/7/2019]

That one might or might not convey.

2023 second round draft pick from Charlotte or Brooklyn (second most favorable of these and Atlanta, swap, Atlanta outgoing to Philadelphia or Brooklyn)
Philadelphia will receive the most favorable of Atlanta's 2023 2nd round pick, Charlotte's 2023 2nd round pick and Brooklyn's 2023 2nd round pick and Atlanta will receive the second most favorable and Brooklyn will receive the least favorable of the three (via Atlanta's right to swap Atlanta or Charlotte for Brooklyn) [Atlanta-Charlotte, 6/21/2018; Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/13/2018; Atlanta-Philadelphia, 7/7/2019]

Atlanta gets the middle pick of ATL/CHA/BRK. I have to think that will simply be ATL keeping their own pick.

The 2nds are probably enough for House. Does Reddish have late 1st value? I'd lean yes but not 100% sure Houston feels the same way.

I don't think the Hawks move Reddish until it's determine how Hunter's knee holds up.
