Seems like the path of least resistance is for the players to be traded to places without mandates. Have the league step in to facilitate the deals behind the scenes. It doesn't benefit anyone to putting the divisive issues front and center.

This is a pandemic...Municipalities are trying to get this over as fast as possible. If you don't want to get vaxxed, you don't get to enjoy things in public anymore. That simple.

Oh liars?
Even posting something about natural immunity and how it’s better than the vaccine will get one banned. ALL doctors who speak out against the vaccine in the US will get their license stripped.
It actually blows me away how people can’t see through this.

Probably because it's not better than the vaccine? Setting aside the fact that you actually have to contract and survive the virus to develop natural immunity, MPJ has already contracted the virus twice within a 12 month period. Natural immunity, for a period of time after a serious infection, results in a good deal of antibodies. But if you had a mild case, you're not safe, especially from Delta.

Well its because thats not actually happening. I have seen already discredited doctors (re: already stripped) speaking out against the vaccine.
BTW natural immunity is not better than the vaccine. Everyone's natural immunity fluctuates tremendously and using the "average" natural immunity would be counterproductive. Thus the reason there isn't a study proving one way or another. It depends on each individual person and its something that can only be discovered through tests with their doctors. Saying its certain one way or the other misses how the wide spectrum of immune systems work.

Also correct. So many variables - viral load, pre-existing conditions, overall health, diet, age, DNA.. its not a good argument but its being made a lot.

There are really VERY few religions that have an issue.
.
Of the major religions practiced in the United States, only the Church of Christ, Scientist (whose adherents are known as "Christian Scientists") and the Dutch Reformed Church are the two religious groups that openly discourage vaccination. Islam in the United States, for the most part, has not opposed vaccination under the principle of necessity, meaning that vaccines are necessary for health, so they cannot be prohibited by religious law.
So it's not that surprising very few players have an issue here based on that ground.

Side effects are well documented buddy. The infertility/mutating your DNA nonsense people are spouting on Facebook is complete hogwash. It's legit laughable that people actually fall for that crap.

i wanted to start a thread with jonathan isaac's presser given his reasonable take on why he chooses to not get vaccinated. but i scrolled through the gen board and saw all the locked vaccine related threads.. now i wonder why this hasnt been locked after 9 pages of posts. haha
for those wondering here's the video of said presser... he was respectful, not antivax, not antimask, not antiCDC.. i think it's an understandable take

I admit the mRNA part is a bit scary, but consider a couple things:
- the vaccine is extremely fragile. It has to be held in super specific conditions and if there were any trace elements that were infecting parts of the body they weren't supposed to, there would not only be a clear pattern by now, but the FDA would never approve it.
- the infertility thing: there is no evidence to support this at all. However, there is evidence that supports if you get vaccinated while pregnant, your child could develop antibodies to COVID in the womb. This could be a huge difference maker in COVID's long term reach and effectively turning it into a flu type situation, maybe a little worse (think pneumonia)

I posted this on the other thread, but I suspect it is this part of the CBA:
for any conduct impairing the faithful and thorough discharge of the duties incumbent upon the Player, the Team may reasonably impose fines and/or suspensions on the Player in accordance with the terms of the CBA.

It is understandable, he's done enough research to show that. However he's been vaccinated with other things before, without issue. Why is he planting his flag on this one? As a healthy young adult, his own words, he has a far lower rate than the quoted 1 of 25000 for a mild case of myocarditis.
While it may not hurt him as much as others, being unvaccinated does overall increase the chances of transmission. He's free to do what he wants, but he is part of the problem, dragging this out further, and it really just comes down to the basis that its his body and his choice.
But luckily for him, the spokesmans words don't affect him.. yet. Although I doubt Orlando or Florida make any changes to their COVID legislation so he should be g2g all season

The NBA already has a clear policy laid out for how Philly can choose to respond to Simmons' demands. What exactly do you expect the NBA say? Adam Silver to go on ESPN and start reading the CBA line by line? I'm sure at least one person in the Sixers front office can read. Probably more than one. It's not like the NBA can stop a player from retiring if they don't want to play any more.
But what happens if a player doesn't comply with local covid laws aren't in the CBA, so the league is clarifying the policy.

It in fact is. You will see once you have a child attending public school or you sign up for military
A pandemic vaccine conjured up and rushed to the public. Gotcha

So his reasoning is that he's uncomfortable taking it because of the 0.001% or whatever chance he might have an adverse reaction to the shot? Like I understand that reason in a vacuum, but the whole reasons vaccinations work is if enough people take them to stop the virus in its track and not allow it to mutate into something else. If everyone had that philosophy, we would have never cured smallpox in this world.

There is nothing wrong with what he's saying..getting the Vaccine is an option. Just like playing in the NBA is an option. If players don't like the rules they can choose to find other employment options.

Because again that’s misinformation. What many studies have said is that:
Natural immunity plus one dose of the vaccine offers maximum protection
2 doses of the vaccine offers the next best
1 dose of the vaccine is next after that
Unvaccinated offers the worst protection
I doubt any of the people posting natural immunity works better on Facebook are also adding the caveat that you should still get vaccinated. And there’s a big exception that natural immunity does not afford the same protection for people who got infected with the alpha variant against the Delta variant. This is what the liars on Facebook will never tell you. They’re fine with getting people sick to serve their own ego.

What a terrible post that you thought was clever. There are an unlimited amount of personal beliefs that could cause a person to lose their employment. Happens all the time.
San Francisco already announce they wouldn't accept a religious exemption for Wiggins before the NBA decision. Because, you know, you actually have to have religious beliefs before you can get the exemption. You can't just discover religion when you read about the exemption. There are very few religions that are anti-vaxx, by the way.
Was it the NBA that declined it or San Fran?
