As much as parsing out contract law is super-enjoyable, the obvious move is to show up and complain of difficult-to-pinpoint back pain and stay off the court. Easy hoops to jump through and keep the checks coming.

Yeah or fake an injury or have "elective surgery"

Correct
And given that he's apparently promised not to play in any games I don't see anything there that de facto stops a team in this situation from making the argument that they can reduce all payments to $0 until that changes.
Your way is certainly cleaner though
It's called anticipatory repudiation and the CBA section specifically says that its remedies are "[i]n addition to any other rights a Team or the NBA may have by contract (including but not limited to the rights set forth in paragraphs 9 and 16 of the Uniform Player Contract) or by law."
Yeah. I was referring to the clause in article 2, as opposed to article 6 above. Article 2 is regarding if the non injured player just doesn’t show up to render services, as opposed to fining him for individual games.

You’re confused again. There is a difference between fining a player and a failure to render services designation. They will recoup the salary under failure to render services. They have the option to fine him as well, but failure to perform and fulfill contractual duties will result in a full recoup of the salary.
That’s not how the system works at present
Under the cba (which Morey referred to), Sixers can fine him $x for each missed event
That money is deducted from his salary and paid 50/50 to the nba and player’s association who distribute it to charities
Unless the Sixers overturn the CBA, they won’t recoup a dime
I can only explain it so many ways, but you just are not comprehending lol
He’s being obtuse on purpose because you boxed him up

Just claim a mental health break
Nobody questions that these days

To be clear I don't actually give a flying Furkan if Josh Harris and co. keep $8 million or even if Ben gets it, just think this is the next potential big twist here.

Right. We all know what they can give him in fines. The failure to render services and losing his entire paycheck is what Ben won’t give up. He could likely afford to sit a whole season, but he isn’t going to give $33 million back.
Now its your turn to post about fines again from your corner lol

Yep
Amounts to something like $23 million for the year
Craziest part is that even if he sits out for the remainder of his contract, he’s still not a free agent
He’s being very badly advised and is being stupid enough to take that advice
Just fkn turn up, sit on the end of the bench and a trade will eventually happen

You obviously don’t know how his contract is structured
He was paid $8.25 million of the $33 million for this season on July 1
Unless they suspend him in the next 24 hours, he is owed another $8.25 million TOMORROW
He’s not going to the poor house anytime soon

The point is it doesn't really matter in the long run if they pay him tomorrow because he's gonna have to pay it back as he misses games, practices, media availability etc. over the course of the season. The July payment too. Those are basically interest free loans with the payment due within a year if he's actually going to openly not show up without some sort of excuse.
You can either think of it like he would be making $0 or he would be making $33 million and having to give away $33 million. Either way he ends up at the same number by the end of the year.
Personally if I'm the Sixers I just keep all the still owed money in my account since that's where it's seemingly going to end up anyway. They may have their reasons to do the other way though.

For some reason I feel not much longer. Just seems like one of those times that everyone starts to think it’s not ending any time soon and then all of the sudden right when that’s the sentiment a deal out of absolutely no where happens

I’m sure Morey is on his phone constantly trying to work out a deal. Problem is both parties have to feel like they’ve won the deal.

That would be pretty difficult for the Sixers to stop, but frankly, I don’t know how much they care if he reports. I don’t know that they expect Ben to improve his trade value as much as they just hope to wait out other teams. I would’ve been very motivated to accept a trade this summer, because I don’t know that Ben is likely to improve his value even if he reports anyway.
