Seems like the season is upon us. Media day starts in about 45 minutes according to the official site. This is a thread for everything that comes out of media day.

Started with some camp bodies and back of bench guys. Nothing new.

Watching Zanik now:
- new addition to FO show owner's commitment to helping continue build strong front office.
- 100% vaccinated!!! Nice. "Shows high character and commitment. Proud of them" This includes players and all the personnel in direct contact with the players.
- The training staff is changed. He said it didn't have anything to do with what happened with Donovan in the playoffs, but says they remain committed to putting world class training staff for the players.
- thinks rookies will have easier time acclimating this year than last year because they get the full experience with SL, OTAs, etc.
- we embrace expectations. Both regular season and playoffs matter.
- Jared Butler is healthy. He's been here all month. Doing everything - contact, 5-on-5, he's ready to go.
- what does it take winning a title - health, talent, being connected.

Rudy waxing poetic about how fun it was playing at the Olympics and getting passed the ball... :D
Rudy feeling great, recharged... ready to go.
What do you want to get better at - "offensively, teams shouldn't be able to switch and it's on me to give the confidence to my teammates and my coach to put me in positions to punish those teams... and not just by rebounding."
Took his time, talked to people, "did his research", and eventually when he felt right about it, he got vaccinated.

Jared Butler - taking OTAs more seriously because he didn't play in SL. Training camp is big for him.
- What do you want to show this year? - Reliability and dependability.
- If I'm playing great, if not - I will be learning.

Joe Ingles:
- after last year we have a little bit to prove.
- he's not in those meetings, but it would be smart to consider load management in order to be more healthy and rested for the playoffs.
-

Donovan:
- big year for the team.
- took 3 weeks off... he's 100% healthy now.
- talked mainly about the new additions when asked about how the team got better defensively... :-?
- knew Conley would re-sign.

My stream stopped after this so... will have to rely on tweets for the rest

Thanks for sharing!

I'm hoping for a better Bogey for sure.

But mostly, mental toughness and an attempt at defense is what I'd like to see the most.

Honestly really glad to hear Conley has taken to Butler. I think Butler is going to be a really nice player, kind of reminds me a bit of later career George Hill (when we had him).

Thanks Stitches for the work and time to put this together. Very insightful . I especially lie the QS phrase "Not trying to run it back". that takes them back to not getting out of round 2.

Nice also to hear that Bogey feels better, DM says he has more room to grow, Q's comments on Rudy Gay not settling at this stage of his career, and Royce throwing down the "Who's the best friend" challenge! :D

Only concern is Q's statement about the depth of the team and how they need to tale advantage of that then says he plan to use a 9 man rotation... :dontknow:

The season is drawing near, can't wait!!!

Great news on Bogey. After a bit of a slow start last season following the surgery, he finished up strong over the last 25 games in April and May, averaging 21ppg on 15.2 attempts. Undoubtedly, a significant factor for his increase in points was absences from Mitchell and Conley, but he also wasn't holding and shaking his wrist like he was in the beginning of the season (if I recall correctly).

I am also looking forward to Gay and Paschall getting some time on the front line.

Yes, the nine man rotation plan doesn't leave non-garbage-time, development minutes for Paschall, Butler, Forrest, Oni or Doke, though I guess injuries and load management will still get them some meaningful game time minutes from time to time.

Sounds like Ingles is thinking about a little load management this season. I had mixed feelings about Ingles participating in the Olympics again this summer because he didn't get much time off, but I am stoked that Ingles finally accomplished one of his career goals to help Australia bring home an Olympic medal. Go Jazz!

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I listened to the Locked On Jazz broadcast yesterday with Locke and Boler. FWIW, David Locke is quite high on Whiteside, saying he expects Whiteside to have the biggest impact out of new players and young players. They also said from seeing Rudy Gay in person that Gay has good size and should be a credible small ball center option.

The general take on the team from homers Locke and Boler is that there is a very positive, optimistic vibe coming in to the season, with the players all sincerely believing that they are on a serious path of working towards a championship in the next couple of seasons.
