Pretty sure that happened during Summer League though.
Stress fractures are often discovered some time after the initial problem starts. He was playing poorly for the first time in his career prior to showing up here and being diagnosed
Anyway, too many know-it-alls proclaiming him not an NBA player. I’ll take Prigioni’s insights over the wannabe experts here
Where’s the quote from prigioni saying that he was hurt during the olympics? Should be easy to find, if it actually happened. I tried looking up him having a stress fracture and there’s a tweet from his team saying it was just fluid on the back of his foot.
Here’s the tweet cuz I like to support my posts with some evidence. Unlike the wanna be experts here.

Glad Thibs recognize how potent that bench unit was. It's really the main reason to be bullish on this Knicks team in the Eastern Conference. Rose/Quickley absolutely slaughtered teams. +15 per 100 possessions for those 2 together and when you add in Burks it stayed high at +12.
Knicks can do a lot of mixing and matching in the back court this year that a lot of teams can't afford.
Look at what being able to play cost controlled rookie deal guys good minutes without a tradeoff allows you to do
Mitch
RJ
Obi
Quick
are all rotation level guys and they combine make up only 16% of the Salary Cap for roughly 40%-50% of their rotation on a given night.
Really allowed the Knicks to be able to spend to keep their depth at an elite level.
Bootum wrote an interesting article yesterday about how Rose and Burks played their best when one or the other was out with covid/injuries.
So that could be something to keep an eye on if we can get them to mesh cuz it might make the bench even more explosive.
I think it means both Burks and Rose like to have the ball in their hands and that is what makes them most effective.
Not taking anything away from either, but it may mean that there is a better addition to IQ/Rose than Burks. Where either Knicks stagger RJ and Fournier to have one of them be the guy who gets time with IQ and Rose more, at the expense of Burks, or even that Grimes emerges as a guy who is better off the ball than Burks. Big if on that one of course.
As good as our bench was last year, I always kinda felt like there were too many cooks in the kitchen sometimes. All three of those guys like to dribble the ball before shooting. I wonder if it would have been better in the long run to resign Bullocks, instead of Burks. He probably would have fit a little better with Rose and IQ. It would have been nice to give IQ some of Burks possessions on ball.
That’s honestly not a bad idea. Maybe pull RJ first at like the 4 minute mark? Then have him come back at the start of 2nd with the bench? Depending on who’s hot in the first RJ or Fournier can be that guy since they’re probably our two best off ball players. Burks feels like the guy that probably be the most dispensable vet in a trade.

Re: 2021 Knicks Offseason-Training Camp News and Videos
I think the Knicks like Burks over Bullocks because of their playoff performance actually. Burks was good in the playoffs while Bullocks was useless. They want their perimeter players to be able to ISO, dribble, and take advantage of mismatches.

Funny how people still don’t see that Thibs lack of offensive creativity requires as many ball-dominant iso dribble-drive players as possible. Don’t fool yourself, Thibs LOVES Alec Burks.

Re: 2021 Knicks Offseason-Training Camp News and Videos
Obi's playing time will be an issue. Thibs definitely want defense and rim protection from Obi along with being efficient on offense. Thibs won't be going small much so don't expect to see Obi at the 5.
The interesting segment was on picking your Finishing Five. Which 5 would you pick to finish close games in the 4th quarter?

cgmw wrote:Funny how people still don’t see that Thibs lack of offensive creativity requires as many ball-dominant iso dribble-drive players as possible. Don’t fool yourself, Thibs LOVES Alec Burks.
Thibs being offensively "non creative" I think is an exaggeration, along with "plays his players into the ground" etc.
Are there better offensive coaches? Sure. But games I watched of the Bulls and TWolves and I saw modified triangle sets, a good amount of cuts, he adjusted to making Noah a point center when Rose went down etc.
They kept Burks because they couldn't keep every vet, especially at the guard/wing. It was an either/or for Burks/Bullocks, unless people wanted IQ to see the bench, or Kemba not signed so IQ could be the backup PG, or Burks backing up PG and no Kemba, so IQ can see the floor.
Now, based on the original post that Burks and Rose don't work that great together, maybe Bullocks would have been the better choice. I'm not sure about that. Bullocks is a really good defender and a good shooter, but Burks is just a better all around basketball player. And he's good at the very thing the Knicks lacked, which was an ability to get his own shot off in multiple ways and also create some for others. I mean, sure, you could say that Walker and Fournier address that, but the Knicks had a real deficit of those kind of players. Why add two, getting the team to maybe "NBA normal" in that regard, and then subtract one? And Walker has an injury history, so going Bullocks over Burks and then Walker goes down with a long injury and basically a team that had creation issues upgraded Fournier over Burks. And that's it.

What kind of shot is that is my first thought. That's really not hook shots or honestly any shot that I've seen NBA players actually attempt in game. It looks like he's maybe trying to work on his bounce (recovering from foot problems).

It was the first time he played poorly and the point I made was stress fractures are often diagnosed well after the initial injury. It is more rational to assume he was playing hurt for a while than to throw down any gauntlets and say we know he is not an NBA player based on this short stretch of time. It is basic deduction + a willingness to keep an open mind. And, yes, Pablo's opinion is worth more than anyone's on this board.

Wait, this is all based on your assumption of what happened? Well, it turns out that your assumption wasn't right about the type of injury he had. If he had be dealing with some nagging foot injuries, why wouldn't they have mentioned it in that tweet? Or mentioned it anywhere at all? Seems like one of those things you wouldn't want to keep a secret if you're trying to make an NBA roster. I hope I'm wrong but from everything I've seen of this dude it doesn't look like he's an NBA player.
FWIW using the "appeal to authority fallacy" is such a lazy way argue. Especially, when it comes to basketball. Like what else is Pablo supposed to say about one of his guys on his team? "He's decent for playing in Spain but I don't expect him to make an NBA rosters." Of course he's going to say that he's going to be good. It's the same way Calipari was gassing up Knox before and after we drafted him. He's coached a lot of guys at UK that went on to be great NBA players and we learned Knox isn't one of those dudes.

People are often in a rush to judgment, that’s all I care to say. I’m not sure what Vildoza’s NBA potential is and I don’t think anyone here knows either

Can't let all these hyper-competitive youngsters play Uno too much though. Uno used to end friendships back when I was in HS. Wind up with Arenas vs Crittenton part two.
