Predict our leading scorers this season.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Thu Sep 30, 2021 12:15 am

Predict the top 3 scorers on the team this season and how many PPG they average.

Grant 19 PPG
Cade 18 PPG
Bey 16 PPG

(Dark Horse is Kelly O, who I think will get a lot of attempts with the bench unit and will average about 14 to 15 PPG).

In my lifetime (born in 1982) these are the highest scoring averages for a rookie.

Jordan (85) 28.2 PPG
David Robinson (90) 24.3 [/b] Was a 24 year old rookie[/b]

Anything above 24 PPG would put him with some insane company. If he gets a ton of 3 point shots up 20+ isn't all that unlikely but I honestly think we're going to have a pretty spread out scoring attack with several guys between 12 and 19 PPG.

I doubt Cade ever scores 27 ppg even if he’s everything we ever dreamed. He’s not really that type of prospect.

Grant 21
Cade 15
Bey 15

Just knowing how things go on this board if the above actually happens I'm sure there will be a contingent of people angry that we aren't utilizing him correctly / wanting to ship him elsewhere / lamenting that we didn't draft Jalen Green (Who I think will get an inefficient 22 ppg as a shoot-first guard on a tanking Houston team).

Everything I've seen of Cade so far is that his primary concern is to make his teammates better. I'd go so far as to say that means that he will sacrifice putting up bawdy numbers at times to stay within the flow of the offense.

I do expect Cade to get around 6 assists though...

I think Cade and Bey are both going to get up like 7 to 8 3 point shots per game so if thry each hit close to a 40% clip that will put them both at about 10 PPG just off of three pointers.

Its hard to say what type of points we will get from Cade in the lane and at the line as he was mostly an off the dribble pull up shooter in college.

Not enough pessimism in here:

Grant 20
Kelly 16
Joseph 13

But really I see it as:

Grant 22
Bey 17
Cade 16

I actually could see him having a season high of 27 or more. Especially if his ability to get to the line Carry's over from college. Then he's also a good ,3 point shooter

i think olynyk is going to be a bigger part of the offense than most expect. he has the ability to get his own buckets, spread the floor and casey has said that they're going to initiate the offense from centers a fair bit. he's also shown that he can put up numbers last season when given the opportunity, meanwhile even at his highest usage last year bey peaked at like 16 PPG. i know he's worked on his individual offense but that usually takes some time to translate to actual games.

so yeah i think olynyk gets like 16 PPG and bey gets like 14-15.

I can't even hazard a guess without seeing the offense, or lineups yet. May as well setup a dartboard.

One thing I do know, is that Cade is going to drop 40 or more in a game this season for sure.

Actual

Grant 19.2 PPG
Cade 17.4 PPG
Bey 16.1 PPG

Don't get much close than that. Cade could have easily been closer to that 18 PPG as well if it wasn't for his early injury but overall spot on.

Nice. What are your predictions for this year's team?
