We have seen Nurse's schemes bother LeBron, AD, Kyrie, Harden, Curry and many others...except Kevin Durant.

Scottie might just be the player to match that agility and length.
Test 1: Sun, Nov 7 vs Brooklyn!

Ok but how does one defend a 7 footer shooting a fade away 3? KD is unguardable.

You let KD get his and stop all others. KD scored 50 on us once and the Warriors lost that game.

If he puts up those numbers as a Rookie I'm ecstatic.

I go as much as 12 PPG but otherwise.

20 MIN / 8 PPG / 3 REB / 2.5 AST / 0.8 STL / 0.5 BLK / 45% FG / 25% 3PT / 70% FT

His value really won't show up much in traditional NBA stats this year. I think he will be a beast defensively right out of the game, which is rare for someone his age/experience level. It's going to take time for the offensive game to come around.

I'd be surprised if he's a 10ppg scorer in the first season.

Playing time, being a rookie, and especially having gunners already in the line up are factors.

If Barnes could prove all of us wrong and play his way into the starting lineup and average something crazy like 15 ppg his rookie year that would be some next level god tier drafting by our organization. :o

9/4/2

He won’t start once PS returns and he’s not a very good offensive player by NBA standards right now. He’s going to need time to expand his skill set, tighten his shooting and his (occasional) loose handle and learn the NBA game. I do think he’ll get there on the offensive end however, he has a high bball IQ , a great attitude and appears to be a gym rat.

defensively, disruption without box score production.

contesting shots, and forcing turnovers without touching the ball.

Really care about his playing time more than stats. He needs the reps more than anything right now in his development.

considering what our rookies usually do here, he would be called the next MJ.

Just give him the reps even if it costs us some wins. It will be worth it in the long run

I thought i'd correct you here.

His transition offense should more than hold up (passing and scoring, how may players will stop him in a breakaway?) by NBA standards and he's going to be hopefully helpful in the half court with his passing.

Maybe. But I saw him miss a ton of layups on the fast break in summer league. And he is a good passer, probably very good, but he won’t have the ball in his hands nearly as often to make those types of plays like he did in SL or at Florida.

He’s a below average offensive player in just about any situation right now and only time, practice and experience is going to change this. He was drafted for his future impact, not his immediate impact, and I think his future potential is immense. Having lower expectations out of the gate will help with both Raptor fans and Scottie Barnes experiencing a lot of heartache this season.

I wish he was someone that prefers to stretch out and try and dunk it every time like Giannis or even prime Wade/Lebron. The layup attempts are disappointing. But I still predict a high field goal percentage with mainly open finishes.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Sometimes guys just need the experience and growth through trial and error to understand that that's the right thing to do, he's definitely capable of it. But look at OG it was only last season that he started to realize that he's bssically stronger then most players and was consistently using his strength as opposed to avoiding contact

Here are his college and summer league stats, small sample size as they both may be.

College stats.
G.......FGA........FG%.......3P%.......FTA........FT%......TRB......AST.......PTS
24.......8.1........503........275.......2.8........621.......4.0.......4.1.......10.3

Summer League stats
G.......FGA........FG%.......3P%.......FTA.........FT%......TRB......AST.......PTS
4.......12.8........412........273.......5.8.........739.......6.8.......3.2.......15.5

If he has a FG% 43/ 3FG% 30/ FT% 650 type of shooting season as a rookie I consider that a win and I do think it's possible for him.

This is the NBA, not the minor leagues. And even his minor league stats aren’t that great so I’m not sure what point you trying to make here? Should be a plus defensive player out of the gate though.
