running sets

Post#1 » by IAMZOOTED2 » Mon Oct 4, 2021 5:46 am

With Ben squarely in the rearview are there any sets the Sixers ran last year for Simmons that Maxey or Shake can adopt/ adapt easily when they are on the floor? I'm thinking like the ones where it's almost a guaranteed bucket or even free throws.

3 actions for ben
- invert pick and roll (JJ or Seth setting back screens for Ben’s man)
- fake hand off then drive to the rim
- snatch pick and roll (kindly correct my term if im wrong, its that pick and roll when Ben starts from the post)

All three are not applicable for the guards.

If there is a player who we can run these actions, its Tobi.

I’d expect a lot of dribble drives from our guards. Possibly 3 guard units and 4 guard units, where we see some glimpse of last season.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I don't think we should continue to have our guards hand the ball off at the top of the key and immediately run to the left block.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

It’ll be sooooo nice not playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end of the court this year!!

I think we should just position Shake or Maxey in the dunker’s spot and see how it goes.

Why would they? In non-transition situations, he's only good for driving into the lane and throwing back out to the perimeter.

Could this be applicable with both Embiid and Drummond on the court?

this

I'm not an anti-Ben guy but the "sets" they run for him are making him the nominal point guard so that he has the ball in transition in the open floor where he can get into the paint and the super inefficient post-ups because that damn hook shot is one of the few shots he's willing to take.

You don't run plays for a guy that won't shoot or force the issue to draw fouls - that won't change unless he does.

they do this in 2k because Niang is out of the rotation...and I feel my soul leave my body because I know Doc just might try it
