The "long" lineup was a beautiful thing to watch, and definitely plays havoc with opposing teams offences. Switching is meaningless, mismatches don't happen.

We look still somewhat susceptible to a true, big centre, but the swarming long arms should frustrate them. Remains to be seen how effective this will be against a couple of bigs (i.e. Drummond + Embiid simultaneously.) Can't see this happening much, though.

Scottie. What can you say? Everything we'd hoped he'd be. Energy, IQ, compete level all top notch.

Flynn and FVV actually seemed to be a bit of a defensive liability out there compared to the longer lineup. Philly was able to exploit the mismatch on them. Dragic was steady if unspectacular, no mistakes.

Freddie G really looked lost. Still has the energy, but didn't look any better than during SL, and doesn't appear to have progressed at all since last season. He lost his man, got confused by cuts and switches. Not looking good for him.

Svi was fantastic. Poised, smart, great IQ, plus he has the length part of the equation.

Banton seems very comfortable out there. Made a couple of rushed passes that were picked off but all-in-all a great performance.

Precious is precious. He's the keeper part of the Lowry S&T.

Champagnie was also very composed, played well, hit his shots. Liked his game a lot.

Yuta also was steady. Nice shots, nice D. Great energy. Knows the system.

Johnson didn't impress me that much. Didn't play a whole lot, but he looks small compared to the "long" lineup.

Bonga also didn't really stand out. Good ball-handling skills, though. Not sure if he fits yet. Needs more minutes next game.

Dekker & Wainwright didn't really get enough time to determine anything, but neither stood out in the couple of minutes they played. Will give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

All in all, a great start, fun to watch, and I just feel better today knowing the season is almost here...

Freddie G looked better than in Vegas. Who else is going to be the third string Centre? Answer is nobody. Freddie2 has to stop panicking out there like every touch is his career.

I like Freddie G, I just don't know how he fits into a system that works when all the players are on the same page. Freddie seems to be a page or two behind. Myself, I'd run Boucher as the 3rd centre when needed, and keep Champagnie on the roster in Freddie's place.
'Cos it's easier to try

Remember when KD and klay were out but no one cared OG was out in the finals. It's k we still won he he he

Thanks. Sportsnet is not maximizing his reach if they don't provide him the same format on Youtube as Yahoosports did.

These antics I don't like. These things get the other team fired up. Was worried he'd bring that playground stuff to his place of work.

He's young, that stuff will get ironed out. I'm sure the coaching staff will review the tape of that with him. If not them, vets like Freddy will tell him to stop and just finish those easy buckets.

I agree that will get cleaned up quickly. I'm just disappointed he thought it was an ok thing to do. He's 20. I did so much dumb **** at that age.

I disagree, I love it. This is exactly the energy, passion and swag we need.

I also wouldn't change who Scottie is, that's his personality.

**** it was nice to see the boys playing on the home floor in front of fans, just with overall joy. I think it’s going to be a fun year.

I disagree. Let Scottie be Scottie. Some of the best players are also big showboats. LeBron, Curry, Harden, Westbrook, Embiid and Trae to name a few. They’re full of antics

That type of confidence and swagger is infectious. It can get inside opponents heads and take them out of their game plan

Freddie G needs to be cut. He looked "okay" for a few games last year, but a lot of that was because we were so tired of watching Baynes fumble and stumble.

Freddie isn't an NBA level player.

The 3rd string center will be Boucher ... OR ... LAC will likely be cutting Hartenstein or Giles. I'd nab one of them.

Boucher is the 3rd center. And while he's out probably either Scottie or OG. We are redefining positions this season.

When in the game did this happen I need video to see for myself.

I don't mind some showboating.lookong back also ensures he is aware of any attempted block shot coming so it's not all bad.

Scottie doing that is fine because he can back it up.

I'd rather he be a showboat after completing a play, that gets back on defense, than a guy who whines to the refs after not getting a call and is reason the other team just scored two easy points. Ultimately guys like Fred aren't going to care if they're winning games.

I think the real question is: Did will stop doing "Can't wait for that Will Lou reaction podcast to drop hoo boy I am so terribly excited!" posts?

Perhaps. Will Lou is much busier now and is getting more money. Self-promotion not as necessary? (wink)

I agree with everyone saying he should continue to showboat and bring energy and be himself, but taunt AFTER the basket! I just think antics like these could lead to silly missed baskets or slipups. I agree that kind of swag and stuff gets into the opponent's head, but when the time is right.

I know we're all excited, and yesterday added to that excitement. This team has a lot of potential. To temper expectations I still think we need to figure out how to play in the half court. FVV and Malachi need to do better with creating half court offense. I think Kyle obviously was a lot better at that. I think dragic is OK at that. We also need pascal, OG, GTJ to be better at half court sets, and penetrate to create shots for themselves and others. Svi actually was the only one doing that yesterday.

I know they're gonna win a lot of reg. season games with their defense led fast breaks. However, in order to develop into a good playoff team they're going to have to find effective half court offense, and may as well go through the pain in the regular season to work on it. Nick already expressed the need in the post-game interview, so i'm hopeful.

I mean that look back made sense. We hot the ball and was not going full speed a guy could easily be coming full truck to chase down block if Scottie goes up without looking. He looks back to see just how much energy he needs to exert or if he should pump fake to draw a foul/finish with contact
