I was a big fan of Zach Wilson way prior to the draft and still am. I think he ends up being the best QB in this draft. He has the best arm talent in this draft and the mobility to improvise and make plays with his legs when needed.
I really like Mac. He & Wilson will have the most success imo. Trevor Lawrence will be solid. But I thought would not quite live up to the hype. Fields meanwhile, will be much better under a different coaching staff. His current situation is a complete disaster. Similar to Goff before McVay arrived. But he'll improve over time.
As for Trey Lance, I think he's going to struggle somewhat. He's more of an athlete than QB at this stage. He will be forced now into playing with Garoppolo out. But he really needs to sit for a while & learn. I said during the draft that the Niners would end up regretting the pick & that he'll end up being the least successful out of all of them. Nothing has really made me change my mind.
Ya I’m very curious how Big Mac turns out. It won’t surprise me if he ends up the best out of this group, but also wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up Chad Pennington 2.0. It’s the arm strength that I question with him. But ya gotta love his IQ, accuracy, and super quick release.
I’m not high on Fields at all really. I just don’t trust his arm. His throwing mechanics scares the crap out of me.
And ya Lance at 3 was questionable. I get why you take Lance. That size, athleticism, and arm strength is all there. But it’s all potential. Then dude is just saw raw. I thought when the trade was made it made no sense because Wilson was the guy you trade you to get but no way he was going past #2.
I like Trevor, but he kind of lacks that elite skill that I would like to see from an elite player. He seems to be good at everything, but not elite. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he’s going to bust, but I’m not seeing that wow factor from him.
I think this is pretty accurate
I wouldn't be surprised if Trevor isn't the best QB of the class in a few years, but it's hard to see him not being at least very good. Like how Andrew Luck was never the best QB from his class and never really in the best QB in the league discussion but he was always towards the top
I'm higher on Fields than you, and I think him and Wilson were just thrown into really bad situations (Trevor too, but that's besides the point). I think Wilson will be all right, and I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up the best QB of the bunch looking back
Lance is just a mystery. However, he's in a great situation in San Fran, and they can afford to be patient with him, for a year or two
Mac's probably in a good situation too, despite the lack of quality receivers. I do agree about his upside being questionable due to his mediocre arm strength, but everything else about him is solid.
