Good sign far as I’m concerned…

The problem with Obi is that he's so old already - in terms of him eventually developing into something useful beyond default back up minutes for Julius. At the moment he is really just a place holder. I'm not as down on Obi as some people were in the middle of last year, but if the Knicks are going to take this playoff thing seriously they need, as thebuzzardman suggests, an upgrade in front court (back up) shooting.

Of course you can stash Obi at some minimal number of minutes on the third string under the circumstances of acquiring a TJ Warren/RoCo or whoever (not those particular players but in that ballpark), but then he probably doesn't get enough minutes and three years down the line he's coming off his rookie contact, is 27 and is still underdeveloped for a fifth year player.

I prefer the dissed and dismissed category for the Knicks, let them underrate the team, let them underrate the players and let them doubt everything as much as they want.

I don't think the team needs it as any extra motivation, they are motivated and driven to be the best whether people doubt them or not. It's just for Knicks fans to twitter about.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Thibs spoke on this flawed logic and he makes a lot of sense…

it’s silly to act like he’s too old to get better, whether you start at 19 or 23 you start at the same place and it’s your approach that makes the difference not your age…

Julius is clearest example of that

We literally went through the numbers on this about six months ago. Search my posts for graphs of development against age-year when entered the league.

It simply makes a huge difference.

On average, obviously, so, again obviously, it is a little different for each individual player.

If Thibs said anything different it was mere cheerleading. And/or old school "take that for data" idiocy.

Julius is not the example you are searching for - he came into the league aged 19.

Look at juju he broke out at age 26!!!!!

As long as he puts in the work(which I have no doubt he has/will) he’ll be fine!!!!!!!

There is a huge list of players with developing their later years. what gives you the indication that Obi Toppin is not one of those players he has a hard work ethic seems like he loves the game has a high spirit and wants to prove people wrong those are all things that are complementary to becoming a better player. Now I don’t think he’ll become a superstar but I do think he will become at least at the very least a average player that is helpful towards a team winning.
