I think the biggest thing to take away from Kyle's article is:

A source familiar with the conversations between Simmons' camp and the Sixers told PhillyVoice that the only consistent or clear message this offseason was about the accelerated timeline Simmons has been evaluated on compared to other No. 1 overall picks. In most instances, agent Rich Paul and others have pointed out, top picks are sent to bad teams where they can figure out who they are and how their career is going to play out. Having missed his first year out of LSU due to injury, Simmons joined Embiid to form a partnership capable of winning 50 games right away, and the Sixers have been considered contenders (or at least pseudo contenders) at various points during the last three seasons, increasing scrutiny on his development.

Good god.

We've joked about him demanding a trade from the #1 seed in the east when he's probably going to end up on a lottery team, but maybe that's what he wants..

These are the types of narratives I'm talking about. Still hilarious though.

I think both parties are losing atm. We don’t have a capable team and Ben’s camp is losing monetary and player value by the day. It’s not good a look if you want to invest him long term there’s risks involved and that’s not even getting into his huge flaws in his game.

Both have brought it onto themselves so there’s no “winner” to me.

Sometimes it’s much better to short the option then try to max out sinking value. The market will just pass by

The Sixers certainly could have handled the last few months but in no way, shape or form has anyone brought this on themselves other then Ben Simmons.

Good god.

Kyle generally skews his Simmons articles in favour of the Sixers and he’s generally anti Ben anyway

Other beat reporters slant it slightly differently

An adoring fanbase who will cheer on his failure to make tangible improvements, teammates who kiss his ass and never call him out on anything, a coach who knows that Ben and his brother know best how to train him, that is what he wants. He acts like he wants a team built around him, when really he is more in need of a team already built and that can cover his weaknesses.

Bulls are going to be fun. That’s another team that will probably max out quicker than us.

2x 3+D low usage guards to go with a proven scorer.

Don’t like the fit with Derozan but other than that Bulls have had a great off season.

Pels are going to miss Ball.

I’m betting he’s going to end up on championship winning team within 6 years (after this contract is over). Just looks an ideal type to be that.

Morey should ask the Cavs if they are willing to give up an unprotected 1st. If they say yes then drive Ben straight to the airport.

Could be the number one pick.

They are doing us but harder, built a Frankenstein on steroids lol so double down and get Ben to add.

The only thing the Sixers are guilty of when it comes to Simmons is babying and enabling him his entire career and not trading his ass sooner.
always a jump shot away.

Derozan can’t shoot threes, but he is a good fit otherwise. Ball is a playmaker, but not so much in the half court so far. Derozan fills the role. And it’s OK having one guy that can’t shoot threes in the lineup. It’s just generally not your SF, but he can score everywhere else so it’s not like you can just not guard him. He will take a lot of responsibility/pressure off of LaVine.

Klutch is doing their job and searching for any leverage they have

They are also making Ben look really bad in the process.

I see the idea behind all of these leaks...but idk if it is helping at this point.

This.

And at the end of the day Simmons being too much of a coward to face the team and the fans works to our benefit. We are under zero pressure to deal him because he isn't getting paid.

If the offers continue to be garbage I have no issue with him continuing to hold out not getting paid for as long as it takes. Whether that be six months, a year, or even longer.

The Pelicans look ready to implode at any time, they may be a dark horse to try and grab Simmons in desperation if they make Ingraham available. It would not seem to make a ton of sense, nut NO has been making no sense all offseason.

This is what I'm thinking should and will happen in reality. And they wouldn't be doing us a favor. Simmons does more to help them get into the playoffs than that decaffeinated Kevin Durant.

We can run point Ingram and let him just chuck and "create".

First Morey has to fly to LA then hire a car and then drive Ben to the airport.

Nah.. its ben who’s pissed.

Ben-Lavine-Vuc would have been super nice. No wonder his camp is pushing hard for him to land there
