I think we're closer to Ben returning than him getting traded at this point and I'm, personally, here for it.

DCasey91 wrote:Such an easy and smooth deal:
Sixers: Ingram
Blazers: Ben, our 1st, Satoranksy
Pels: CJ, Blazers 1st (or whichever is the highest pick between the two), Roco
Pels:
CJ
Hart
Roco
Zion
Val
Go hard for Turner, move Val & Graham before the oncoming implode. Ball was a great catalyst for them. Graham is closer to Bledsoe all over again. Boom all in on Zion with acres of space and good defense. Scary team
Us:
Curry
Green
Ingram
Harris
Embiid
Pretty good squad. Harris is more movable as the contract gets another year off next year. Drummond, Green, Thybulle, Milton, Maxey, Korkmaz all should be on the table to look for appropriate investments/returns. We need young guards so get them. Don’t worry Harris is a perfect tank commander someone will nab him with 2 years left. A very durable 20ppg scorer is the selling point so sell it perfectly for that. Watch Morey get out from under it with the stud move of getting Curry![]()
we 50/50 it which is better than losing assets.
Blazers:
Lillard
Powell
Patterson/Little/Snell
Simmons
Nurkic
Need defense they got it. Lillard + Powell + Nurkic is plenty of offense. Heck ask for Simons for Thybulle as the Curry replacement. Lillard can offset the dynamic defensive duo. We can’t win/win.
I should be GM. All 3 have pretty much 2x 20ppg or 20++ppg scorers, defenders and better pieces to max out their best player.
Honestly all three should take responsibility all build it the right way which all three haven’t and only have themselves to blame.
Are you gong to be a lead assistant all your life or a Real GM? Send this to Morey/Olshey/Langdon and Griffin. And get this deal done.

I think both parties are losing atm. We don’t have a capable team and Ben’s camp is losing monetary and player value by the day. It’s not good a look if you want to invest him long term there’s risks involved and that’s not even getting into his huge flaws in his game.
Both have brought it onto themselves so there’s no “winner” to me.
Sometimes it’s much better to short the option then try to max out sinking value. The market will just pass by
This is for all the future teams and players that think they can force a trade the sixers have to set an example.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Simmons' won't have the stomach to lose $400k/game for much longer. He will be back. He also doesn't have the temperament of a Butler and also isn't good enough to create a toxic enough environment to force a 50% value trade.
Increasingly, I think his only way out is to come back, play as pre-all star voting Simmons, and wait for the Kings (most likely or some other suitor) to crater. Then the stars will align for all the stakeholders. I think it'll happen.

Not if but when this happens. I would love to ask the Simmons camp. When and who came up with the strategy that losing money, that you are not getting back, was a good option to employ.
And the next time Simmons does get paid Rich Paul and Klutch are going to be looking for their cut for services rendered.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
Does anyone know what the cap implications of Simmons fined salary are? If he misses 25 games at ~400k each that's $10m. Does that get credited for luxury tax calculations? Can something like a trade exception or some other way to weaponize the cap be created? I mean, this is basically unchartered territory for the league if Simmons follows through on his threat of sitting out a significant number of games.
I don't remember what happened with the Anthony Davis situation exactly but I think he stayed with the team until the Pelicans willfully sat him out of games so it's not the same as here, where the Sixers publicly are stating they want him to report and play.

That report from the Klutch camp talking about Ben not being able to spread his wings because he immediately went to a contender after being drafted smells a lot like building a narrative for a return.
I think Ben might be about to come back after a sit down with the 76ers then a compromise ensues.

I can't see it happening. Bridges weren't totally burned, but they are definitely on fire.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread part V
I did my best to be fair to all teams and players involved, including KAI. Irving may not want to leave, but Philly is a competitive landing spot that I think he would accept. He can play all 82 games unvaccinated in PA should he choose, thereby retaining over $17mil, and still be close to family. The Spurs have done well with reclamation projects, and are in need of starpower. Ben gets to be THE man, in an organization that can help him mature and won't stress his shooting hesitancy.

San Antonio adds an athletic playmaking All-Star who could use a fresh start.

Yes because they have a very smart GM they would be so good with Ben.

I think the kyrie Ben stuff is about to get WAY louder. Seems like one of those rare times the national media might be able to construct a narrative that turns into something

Didn't he have a whole year after he was drafted to work on his shooting (and to switch shooting hands)?

I think losing $350+K per preseason game is going to make Ben show up to the bridge with a fire extinguisher, garden hose, anything. Imagine having to deal with missing a paycheck every night that is more than 99% of the country makes in a year because your agent botched the bluff?
All he has to do is return and jack up 5-6 threes a game and he'll be tradable by next month. He won't even have to lose out on his insane salary either!

Re Irving, No thanks. I’d worry that the pilot of the team charter, overcome by the covid Kyrie infected him with, might accidentally fly off the end of the earth. I wouldn’t want to risk that.

I have this question too and I don't think it has been reported on. I don't think there would be any major benefit this year, no trade exception or anything like that.
The major question would be if they dip below the tax would that reset their repeater tax team penalties (which kick in if you go over 3 out of 4 years). Otherwise they are a repeater tax team in 2022/2023 unless they go under that year. Resetting it would push it back to 23/24 (unless they were under either in 22/23 or 23/24).

Jokes aside, looking at the Celtics before, during, and after Kyrie tells me I want no parts of him.
