Re: The Bulls Are Going To Be A Problem
YES. PRESEASON. 1 GAME against the Cavs. But the win showed things that were different from last year.
>>> In the perimeter the Bulls got better in shooting, passing and defensively. That was apparent last night.
I was impressed by the low turnovers (with all the new faces), how scrappy they looked, and their defensive rotations overall for being a new team. This team looked a lot better in the iq department than last year. Tipping balls, rotating, playing the passing lanes, the unselfishness etc.
Lonzo is a really nice fit with this team. He's a glue guy out there, making the right plays offensively and defensively. Opposing teams need to be focused going against this Bulls team, no lazy passes etc.
Carushow is a really nice piece to have. 10 assist, 0 turnovers
Jevonte Green really stood out defensively and really helped this Bulls defense. 6'4 with a 6'10 wingspan was everywhere. He will add nice depth.
Don't forget about LaVine. This is guy is looking special out there with lots of confidence. Gets better and better every year. Makes the game look easy.
IMO defense will determine how good this team will be. Looking at them last night, If Vooch doesn't miss a lot of games, I would not be surprised if they are a top 10 team defensively. Which is crazy because I had a lot of concerns coming into this season. Billy Donovan's teams have always been solid defensively and even took the Bulls to rank #12 last year.
__
This team played with confidence, easy to do when facing a team not expected to make the playoffs but I will share, winning is contagious. If this team keeps playing with confidence, and starts believing they are great—watch out

Re: The Bulls Are Going To Be A Problem
We know they'll be able to score the ball now I'm really curious about how their defense is though.
Also, on paper they are probably the most shallow team that is actually trying to win in the entire league.
Vucevic
Williams
Derozan/Jones
Lavine/White
Ball/Caruso
That team is 8 "trusted" rotation players deep. Two of which are still very young and raw in Patrick Williams and Coby White. Then they are relying on guys like Troy Brown, Tony Bradley, Alize Johnson, Javonte Green, Ayo Dosunmo to be capable rotation players too. Thats a problem to me. One injury to any of those main 8 guys and they are in trouble. One injury to any of their Top 3 and they are in even bigger trouble. They just don't have the depth to stay a float.
If they all stay healthy, then I agree with most here, thats a team that can maybe get to the 2nd round. Any minor injury though, can be pretty consequential in seeding...more so than a lot of the other teams that they are in the same tier as.

Re: The Bulls Are Going To Be A Problem
They are a fun and interesting team, nice mix of youth/vets, and they actually have multiple all star caliber players now meaning they can be competitive most nights. Sure, a couple of those all star guys are on the lower tier of all star caliber, but looking at their roster, its not a team to take lightly.

I don't think they're a real contender or anything but people expecting them to be a 7-8 seed at best will be mistaken. This team will finish in the 3-5 area.

It is always fun to be overlooked and underestimated, the wins feel so much more gratifying.

Top 10 defense? lol I'll be impressed if Donovan gets this team to be out of bottom 10 defense.

Derrick Jones Jr.
They also have Marko Simonovic (a Euro big who they drafted last year).

Which of BK, MIL, MIA, ATL, NYK, PHIL are they better than? I would take BOS over them too. If they get absolutely nothing for Simmons then maybe that drops Philly below them but all of those other teams have much more depth, star power, and chemistry. I dont think people are realizing how shallow and bad at defense this team is gonna be.

Re: The Bulls Are Going To Be A Problem
I've been high on Vuc for years but he was stuck in Orlando (no offense Magic fans) because the team just couldn't put a team around him. Now that he's on the Bulls with Lavine, Ball, Derozan and a promising young forward in Patrick Williams...yeah this team can be kinda scary. I'm a little worried about the height/size issue but in today's modern game it isn't like you have to worry about someone taking Williams or Derozen into the low post.

Absolutely. It's going to be so much fun to come back in 9 months and really hammer posters for......saying it was one pre-season game against one of the worst teams in the league.
Man none of these posters will ever be able to show their face again for having the gall to, what was it again? Oh yeah, say it was one pre-season game against one of the worst teams in the league.
Yea I'm a Bulls fan and last night I had as much fun watching as the next guy, but threads like these are why the GB hates us so much.
It was a preseason game against a garbage team. Let's see how they defend when they go against legit frontcourt forces like Gisnnis, embiid, AD, etc, before crowning them.
Also, drozen and vuc sucked last night. It was the scrap heap guys that picked up the slack. Not gonna be able to count on that when the real games begin.
Im excited too, but good Lord let's win some RS games before making threads like these.
