1. The Jays are dudes. 11 FTAs in 45 minutes combined was most promising
2. Nesmith. Still running around like a maniac, but hit his shots and didn't foul like crazy on D. Still think he's the right 5th starter
3. Schroder attacking. Couldn't finish anything but loved his driving and think he's going to be just fine.
4. ROMEO! Seriously, would love to see this kid break out and stay healthy this year.
Bad:
1. Everything else.
2. Passing still needs a lot of work. 19 assists on 32 made FGs is OK and probably would've been a lot higher if we hit anything out there, but still felt like we fell back to iso scoring too much.
3. Really hope the Juancho start was a one-time thing. Like the guy but even 17 MPG would be about 2x too many minutes.
I think the Richardson hand-wringing was overblown. He couldn't hit anything and maybe he really is just a poor shooter, but loved his D and he still wound up a +11 in 24 minutes.
I agree with most of that but what do you have against Juancho? He was active as hell on both ends of the floor, especially on the boards. Set screens, made the extra pass, hustled. Good size, good toughness, moves well for a dude his size, his shot looked good, took a 3-pointer that didn't fall, but even though he missed, the shot looked good, it was a good miss.
It was just 1 preseason game. I'm intrigued to see what Juancho brings in the next one..
I agreed with Hal14. Juancho did pretty well, as a Starter. 4 Rebs (3 Offensive); 1 Blk; 4-4 from the free throw line.
We need a Starting 4, just for like 20 mins or so. Start the Jays at the 2 & 3, instead of the 3 & 4.
