Honestly.. I think Kuminga might have to start off as the F/C combo with Dray over being our SF. Our SF has to have moderate to plus BBIQ and is running all over the court. Kid would have no legs by the halfway mark of the season as our starting SF

If Wiggins continues with this, I'd assume that Iguodala gets the start, and I have to think Moody becomes in play at SG. I'm still very much against putting a 3rd stringer like Lee in with the starters

I hope Otto plays well & competes for Wiggins’ minutes. I don’t want to burn up Andre’s contribution filling bulk early regular season time.

Keep your eye on Davion Mitchell...

De’Aaron Fox says Kings rookie Davion Mitchell already one of NBA’s best on-ball defenders

Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox had high praise for rookie teammate Davion Mitchell after watching him do his thing on defense in a 113-98 preseason win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night at Staples Center. Fox said Mitchell is already one of the top five on-ball defenders in the NBA. He ranked Mitchell among the likes of Marcus Smart, Patrick Beverley and Jrue Holiday, all of whom have been NBA All-Defensive First Team selections. “When he’s locked in on the ball, it’s crazy to watch,” Fox said. “The way he’s able to stop and go, it hurts my legs watching, but he’s a great on-ball defender. He’s top five, I’d say, for on-ball defenders in the league right now. When you watch him, it’s just amazing. He does stuff on the ball that you can’t teach and that’s what’s making him great.”

...Mitchell had 13 points, four assists, three rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot. The Kings held the Clippers to 38% shooting. They forced 19 turnovers, came up with eight steals and blocked six shots. Mitchell stole a pass from Paul George 49 seconds after entering the game, took a charge from Eric Bledsoe and then found himself one-on-one with George in the final seconds of the first quarter. George, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward, had a significant size advantage over Mitchell, a 6-2, 205-pound guard, but Mitchell didn’t back down against the seven-time All-Star.

Mitchell, who came out of Baylor as the No. 9 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, picked up George at halfcourt and refused to give an inch. George dribbled behind his back, between his legs and behind his back again before driving to the basket, but Mitchell stayed with him stride for stride. Mitchell cut off George’s path, forcing him into a highly contested turnaround, fadeaway jumper that missed badly off the top of the backboard.

I stand by my evaluation that Mitchell will be better than Suggs

I didn’t think he was moving right the entire time he was in the game. May have stained it in practice and tried to play through

Don't let the patella part scare you. This is a 1-4 week injury usually, unless they are underselling it. Which still sucks of course, but kinda cements what his path is going to be - he's going to be a victory cigar when he comes back, up until the start of the GLeague, where he'll likely be shipped off to.

We're deep enough with guys that can play the 4 that all we lose is some potential eye candy dunks for a while

A Kuminga that's not attacking the rim fearlessly is not a healthy Kuminga

Cool was worried this might be something that would be recurring.

Yea I don’t think he was going to get minutes anyway so not too worried about him missing the rest of preseason.

Typically patella sprains are a result of a trauma contact, like hitting the ground knee first, knocking knees, etc.. Its not typically a chronic thing. That said I'll be much happier when the team confirms there's no fracture, or that his timeline is a short one

Anything that doesn’t involve cartilage or the ACL is good news when it comes to knee injuries.

Jonathan Kuminga’s first NBA preseason will be put on hold for at least a week after an MRI revealed the Warriors rookie lottery pick suffered a strained patellar tendon in his right knee.

Patella tendon ruptures though? I think those are career enders, typically. Victor Cruz, an all time favorite of mine.. he never recovered

Yeah, good point. I was thinking the non catastrophic types. Strains and sprains and such.Things that will heal on their own versus stuff that won’t.
