Congratulations season ticket holders.

Effective Saturday, Oct. 9, capacity limits will be lifted for:

Concert venues, theatres and cinemas.
Spectator areas of facilities for sports and recreational fitness (would not include gyms, personal training).
Meeting and event spaces (indoor meeting and event spaces will still need to limit capacity to the number that can maintain physical distancing).
Horseracing tracks, car racing tracks, and other similar venues.
Commercial film and television productions with studio audiences.
Proof of vaccination is already required for these settings, and will remain in place. Some outdoor settings with capacity below 20,000 will also have limits lifted. Capacity limits remain in effect for all other settings.

As Raptors and Leafs games will allow full capacity as a result of this announcement, MLSE president and CEO Michael Friisdahl welcomed the province's decision.

"We are overjoyed to see this day arrive when we are able to welcome a full venue to cheer on the Maple Leafs and Raptors," he said. "We are grateful to all levels of government for their partnership in this process and we recognize there will continue to be much work to do together to ensure the safest environment possible for every event attendee and our community."

The game on the 10th should have way more fans (if they drop the insane prices for a preseason game)

With vaccination rates nearing 85% at this point, we should be able to squeak our way to 90% before winter - which makes everything much safer in terms of big crowds. People with kids will still have to take their own precautions and/or assess their risk tolerance, but this is a good step, along with the other things loosening up a bit - as long as some restrictions or best practices are still followed. Being masked for as much of the time as posssible should still be recommended.

For TV viewers, this will be fantastic too.

Ontario gov makes these rules now? Disgraceful. Queen's Park podium posing for cameras. We need a truly national health authority as the provinces pander too much local interests and everyone is a Quebec now. Alberta is the king of going rogue.

Huh? This is a good thing. You can't get in the arena unless double vaxxed, what's the problem?

It did but I have a feeling we will be near the same area again this season and will have the exact same decision to make.

Will it be "play in for what" or "play in to get the young guys some experience."

The only number that is relevant to community transmission is the % of the population. We really need to stop using the other numbers.

They really shouldn’t be allowing anyone unvaccinated into a full capacity arena, meaning no one under 12 should be allowed to attend Raptors or Leaf games right now. But that would be controversial.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

This being decided a week before the season is a joke. This should have been decided months ago. There is nothing fundamentally different for them to make this same decision now. But at least they finally made a decision.

You misunderstand like most things. This is about Stadiums going full capacity. No one cares about 70% or 80% cause it doesn't matter what two people in a thread think. It already happened without your opinion.

Good for Ford for supporting small businesses like MLSE and Cineplex while continuing to protect all of us from the dangers of eating in the local full capacity restaurant.

No surprise though. This government has been right on the money from day 1 with their response to this pandemic. Job well done.
