I watched and it wasn't pretty. No signs of progress so far, even Mobley looked like he did in Summer league.
A concern for me is that Jarrett Allen has looked more like a typical 7-footer than a defensive force / rim-protector, but way too early to judge. The contrast to Mobley (who continues to look amazing on D) makes it pretty obvious that he's not back to where he was when he joined the Cavs.
edit: added this:
It was amazing that 6'4" Javonte Green was dominating our 7-footers.
If this was a LeBron-team, I'd call it rust and player's saving it for games that matter; but I don't get it with this squad. All these guys have been working out from before training camp started, they have all the youth in the world ... they should be pre-season All-Stars but they just don't seem to know what they're doing. They're trying to share the ball and move the ball, but the execution is way off. JBB tried some lineups which should have had better floor spacing and they couldn't seem to take advantage.

Rough to watch. Alot of standing around both defense and offense. Alot missed layups. Turnovers. Rubio and Love were the bright spots. Markkanen was involved alot of early offense but looked like he had the jitters. Maybe something to do with playing against the Bulls or in a new team.

It can only get better after this.

Don't know... Ive been seeing the Bulls and Hawks announcers on nba league pass channels. Preseason should be free to stream as well as the first week unless blackout rules are in affect.

Re: 2021-22 Preseason
Maybe it's just been too long since I've seen a Cavalier consistently defend at a high level, but Mobley has me wondering if he could get DPOY votes as a rook.

Also, Austin Carr back at announcing. I guess the worst team in the league deserves the worst broadcaster.

Not sure if Sexton-Garland-Okoro-Mobley-Allen makes sense even from developing stand point. They are playing so poorly together.

Mostly Sexton, Garland, and Okoro have just been awful. Pretty sad for our past 3 picks, but fortunately these games don't count.
The spacing is really bad, but that doesn't excuse everything they've done wrong.

At least Windler and Wade looked good in their turn to show what they can do.

Agreed on Wade and Windler. I also think Love as a old man backup floor stretching center could have a bit of promise. Not worth 30 million, but worth something.
If Philly and Indy do a Simmons deal involving lavert and brogdan, we should try to strip Brogdan out of that deal if we can. He’d solve a lot of our defensive/backcourt issues

Garland and Sexton just look a bit lost what to do with our new toys - seemingly all they've learned in two years is how to take turns and do some simple actions off their drives. Revving up their intensity once the games start counting will help, but it shouldn't be so hard in pre-season.
Hopefully things start clicking because somehow our attempts to teach these guys to run an offense needs to somehow take hold.
I'm comforted by the fact that we've seen LeBron look completely out of sorts with his teammates for stretches, but Garland and Sexton don't have that kind of talent let alone track record.

Re: 2021-22 Preseason
I thought maybe they were running Love in the second unit because they didn’t want to see him get booed out of the stadium. But he was getting the loudest crowd pops all night which just blows my mind.
You can’t run a my turn, your turn offense unless you’re Brooklyn. We seem to have that as our system in place now. Our schedule is so hard the first 20 games that I’m almost hoping for a 3-17 start that triggers a full start over in the front office and HC.
