Are the Warriors contenders?

Post#1 » by Peregrine01 » Sat Oct 9, 2021 3:17 am

It's early but damn do they look good so far. Way more shooting this year compared to last, way more depth and more high IQ players. They're undersized but they're playing the biggest team in the league tonight (the Lakers) and more than holding their own in the paint. Really incredible what happens when you get competent shooters on a team.

Doubt it. Not impossible but eh, maybe a small chance if klay is back 100%.

The lakers are just bad cause its preseason, westbrook and melo playing their worst games. They also are missing their probably best player in AD who is just hitting his real prime.

With no KD and return of Klay, we may see 2016 curry again. Good help, but not too much good help. So, yes.

I think what we're seeing from them offensively is sustainable. Defensively, they punched well above their weight last year and there's no reason to think why they can't this year either since they didn't really lose any impact defenders. In the West, it's just the Lakers and Clippers who are the biggest threats IMO. I think the Warriors are in that mix.

I also forgot to mention: Jordan Poole has all-star potential.

My choice for MIP especially if klay takes awhile coming back.

Don’t see it, it would be a pretty improbable run

I think they'll surprise people. If Curry plays like he did last season and Klay comes back even 75% they'll be a threat.

If Jordan Poole is playing the way he's playing right now... Warriors will be a real threat in the West

They finished 15-5 last year to land in the 7th seed while fielding a 7-man rotation include Curry, Green, Looney, Poole and three other guys who probably wouldn't find a roster spot anywhere else. This year, they added Otto Porter Jr, Bjelica and Klay. Plus Poole has made a HUGE leap.

This was a team that ranked top 5 in defense last year and was probably top 10 in offense in the last 20 games with Curry going bananas. This offense looks ridiculously better so far.

Any team with Curry/Klay is a contender.

Nah, they will just get exposed like Curry was last year.

Can't count on Klay for much this year. Its been two years since he's played, and who knows own what shape his body is in.

Definitely not contenders.

Only if they trade for Benjamin Simmons, he'll upgrade their defense so Klay doesn't have to defend much, and he'll hit their shooters better than anyone could ever.

Any team with Curry—the greatest player in the game—is a contender. All the naysayers can go post on the "Curry is going to be exposed" thread from last year and give us more good laughs.

So they were a contender the last two years? Were they a contender when they missed the play-in against a team of 22 year olds? Every GOAT needs an all-star or two around him, even Steph.

I dunno, Klay likely needs a season to return to form and we are going to rely on really young players. Deep in the playoffs that doesn't seem to be a formula for success.

We know Curry is Curry, and Dray will do his thing, and the roster isn't as thin as the last couple seasons, so it should be a good team.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna
