Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 6
Let's rush into a Levert and Brogdon deal so we can find another way to lose in the second round in humiliating fashion!
Literally no reason to rush for a deal that doesn't alter either the current or future ceiling of this franchise.

Sure maybe we can get a better deal that’s similar. But I’m getting sick of reading the Edwards, Lillard, Beal, Ingram, hell at this point even fox pipe dreams over and over. Those are deals that could have been made before this **** show happened. Just like the harden deal was relatively possible. If the Indiana package doesn’t work for health reasons for you or whatever that’s fine I get that argument but we’re not getting a star for Ben. With all the baggage at this point another team would step up and beat our offer with something way more attractive. The most realistic thing we will get is a package from a team like Indiana of guys similar to Brogdon and levert, a guy like CJ who is worth like 50-75 percent of Ben usually, or Minnesotas couple of borderline trash players and a ton of picks.

I will guarantee he comes crawling back after 20 missed games after he realizes how much money is losing. Soon after that Lillard will be demanding a trade and will be doing the same thing Ben is doing now. At some point in December a straight up trade for Dame and Ben will be agreed upon. The worst thing that can happen is taking on CJ's contract, I'd trade for Heild before CJ. Hell, I'd do Wiggens straight up before CJ and an unprotected pick if I were Morey.

Yeah I don’t want CJ either age plus contract is no go. But there’s no way they do that at this point someone like New Orleans or even New York would destroy our offer because Simmons has baggage, Ingram doesn’t, and New York has more young pieces and picks to deal

I think that's a good fit and there are fewer weaknesses in this than any Philly team I've seen. Less star power but less weakness to take advantage of in a playoff series.

Well Brogdon and LeVert and Simmons are all from the same draft class.
Brogdon played 297 RS games
LeVert played 260 RS games
Simmons played 275 RS games
Brogdon has missed less games than Simmons. Simmons is closer to LeVert in games played.
LeVert did have that non-basketball issue reason for being out as well. Without that he doesn't look different from Simmons.
Lol come on man, Simmons is not more injury prone than Brogdon. The only reason he has missed less games is because of Ben's red shirt year. Are you seriously using that as an argument?

Not that I really have a dog in this fight, but all injuries are not created equal. Ben missed 82 games (possibly could have returned at the end of the year) due to a foot injury that has not affected him in any way since. He's been generally healthy since. I think he had a back injury and can't remember anything else. Brogdon seems to have soft tissue issues constantly throughout his career and LeVert seems to have perpetual issues with his feet.
Injuries happen when they happen. Chronic or re-occurring injuries matter though.
Yup, and Brogdon and Levert have chronic injuries. They may not be the same, but it's a pattern.

If Levert and Brogdon are ironmen, do you think you have a chance to trade Ben for both guys.
There’s one way to counter these injury prone guys, surround them with a lot of talent that you take the load off from them so they wont breakdown.
This is one of the biggest reasons why superstars team up after their prime.
Pacers is also handing us picks so we have back-up in case those two injures their way into oblivion

I do think Morey and our FO still think we have a chance for Lillard.
If Blazers starts out poorly and does not show any signs of being a contender, I think we have a chance

There's one thing if you have 1 injury prone player. Having 3, with one of them just recovering from cancer, is a recipe for disaster. You can surround all of the talent in the world, if one of them is out for an extended period of time, has a career changing injury, or if LeVert gets cancer again it's over. What's worse, having them both on the team, will make us good, but the Nets will still be better, the Bucks will be an even matchup.
So really we're risking it to be what, an ECF team? That is not a championship team. Even without the injuries.

My position always was that our WORLD’S BEST
When healthy, I think we can make it to the finals and have the chance to win it.
And if not healthy, i’ll be glad to take a breather with two lottery picks in 2022 draft.
I love this mindset that if you are an underdog or have a really low chance of winning, you need to have a high variance game (i believe its morey who said it, will check), where you make volatility your friend and I think thats what you’re direction is when you do that deal or if you can’t build a superteam around Embiid which is very likely the case right now

Why would Minnesota trade Butler for Roco & Saric. You know moods and stances fluctuate quickly throughout the season.
Brogdon + Levert is career suicide for Joel Embiid. Literally what is the point or the end goal.

Because thibs was acting as GM and they botched the heck out of it. Similar to what we are doing with Ben

I like this and just sharing
Morey and Increasing Variance:
One of the lesser known theories of Morey and the Rockets is that although the Warriors may have the most talented roster, the Rockets can increase the odds of winning a series as underdogs by increasing the variance. He's said it multiple times in interviews, podcasts, etc. the earliest record I found of it was in an AMA from four years ago where he was asked how the Rockets could maximize their chances of beating the Thunder in an upcoming playoff series, his response was simply 'Increase the variance' with no follow up response providing any hint on the strategy to employ this plan. Here's a tweet from 2013 emphasizing the importance of increasing variance. In February 2017, Morey again brought up this idea of increasing variance to increase their chances of beating the Warriors. Though this time he elaborated giving the explanation:
"[...] we absolutely figured the only way we’re gonna beat ‘em is with a barrage of 3-pointers and it’s probably going to be a 124-120 affair if we’re going to get past them."

Not necessarily. You’ll be putting your eggs on three baskets. On Brogdon, on LeVert and on the pick from Pacers.
If there are better deals, I’d do those.
But if not, i wouldnt mind this deal.
We can get a Bouknight or Cam Thomas type player with the couple of picks we have after the deal in the 2022 draft. We can also trade up with our picks and Brogdon&LeVert for Dame next season if that’s available.
Im not a clairvoyant that i can see what will happen but I think its not as risky just as we do our due diligence to check their health status.

For me career suicide is playing too safe and never taking risks for a chance to be great.
If i fail, then atleast you took your shot at the highest payoff possible and can have that peace to start all over again because u did ur best.
Its much better than competing to the end of time with a meh roster and thinking what would have happened if we gambled.

2021 draft is deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Mobley/Green need two years before we can look into the top end but other than that it’s deeper than the Mariana Trench.
And yet we haven’t hit any of our 3 picks. Shame on the scouting team. No excuse if we here can see it then whoever is their should hit all three picks blindfolded.
Also good spot 76ciology on Bones Hyland.
And yes I don’t rate Edwards highly in fact Christopher for me who I already liked is chomping at the bit to actually get a starting role down the line.
6”4” 220 athletically he’s not far off Edwards... skillwise and mentality I think he maybe better in due time. Big call, huge call even but he’s one of my boys for a reason.
Also Murphy III is a stud muffin but I already knew that.
