I did watch him, that's why I picked him as my example (because there aren't a lot of SRPs who I've watched in high school, lol). I'd disagree slightly with how strongly you praise him, but I take the overall point that he was/is more athletic than Bronny. But it's still a much lower bar for Bronny to have to reach than being like Derrick Rose or John Wall, super-athletic freaks pre-injury. And even Sharife iirc went somewhere in the 45-50 range, so not the *very* end of the draft. I dunno, I just don't find it hard to see Bronny slipping in as one of the very last picks.Pelly24 wrote:SharpyShuffle wrote:But those guys (except for Selby) all made it as stars/high paid starters in the NBA. It's just a question of whether he can get drafted at all, even in the late second round (which I think is close to 100% yes given who his father is, how well his father is aging, what his father has said about wanting to play together, and how little teams value late second round picks) and whether he *deserves* to be drafted in the late second (which is probably more 50-50).Pelly24 wrote:
I think you can never truly write someone off, but it's not based on internet scouting. Being 6'2," you need to be a lot more athletic than the average high school guard if you want to make it to the NBA. Watch Josh Selby, Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, Kyrie, John Wall and people like that in high school. Watch how all those people just blow by guys, snatch a rebound and go coast to coast for finishes, dunk on people, stuff like that. This kid is not remotely similar to any of those folks. But the thing is he's also not as good a ball handler or shooter or passer as those guys. So not as athletic, not nearly as skilled. The size part is off, he's small even if he's not short for a point guard.
The question is not "can he equal Kyrie?" It's "can he equal Sharife Cooper?"
I get that but then I have to ask: did you watch sharife Cooper on high school? Because he was one of the quickest and fastest players in the nation and he could blow by people at will. He dominated players game in and game out. Bronny has never shown that level of talent at any point. The question of whether he can be a sharife is basically answered at this point. Probably not. And that’s fine. The buzz probably ends this year and he’ll continue living his awesome life.
IT'S LIKELY: Bronny James is 18 and short (about 6'1/2" barefoot) so his size+skills won't make him a real nba player

Well, as long as he plays better than Michael Jordan's kids, that's probably all that matters.

I don’t even think he wants to play college ball. He seems like he wants to a a twitch/video game star

I think you probably subconsciously have always expected that Bronny would be an NBA prospect. I pretty much did too, even though I knew it wasn't a guarantee. There's just no place for a 6'2" 3&D guy that can't shoot in the NBA. He isn't even able to score a lot of points in high school, so probably can't in college, and then it goes without saying that he couldn't do it in the NBA. He's 17 now, he would have to completely revamp his skillset or have a big growth spurt to become an NBA player. He'd have to become an elite ball handler, and an elite shooter or an elite slasher with good size and athleticism but its just very late in the game to get all of that. No hate, he seems like a good kid.

I was 6’4 a couple of months after turning 13, and I’m still 6’4 now. Yeah…

Honestly, if the bad Ball brother and Giannis' brothers are getting camp deals, some team will use a late 2nd on LBJ's kid if he wants to be in the NBA.
while I agree that height won't be an issue is it relates to his chances making the league, keep in mind that those 6'3 and below players are hyper skilled. even the bench warmers. make a couple of those 6'1, 6'2, 6'3 guys, 6'6" or 6'7" and you've have a couple of brand new stars in the league.

If he's got his fathers' skillset, he doesnt make it in any pro league at 6'3.

This is made for the Cavs’ to draft him in the 2nd round and bring Lebron back for a swan song to retire a Cav.

I see Bronny already has the Lamelo Ball stigma...He'll be fine...Has played only 9th grade highschool ball so far so I don't blame people for going off of opinion and false narratives about the kid. Give it 12-18 months and he'll be top 5-10 in his class.

He's actually like two or three inches shorter still, these camera angles have made him look taller. Bryce is probably like 6 foot flat. Bronny 6'2 and change maybe.

Based on what? So you actually think his name has hurt him in his recruiting ranking, not helped him?

The #1 recruit in the 2023 class at the moment is a 6'3 guard that is the son of an early 2000s Cleveland Cavalier top 10 draft pick, who has the same name as his father. Yet that player isn't LeBron James son.
Just a random thing I thought was somewhat funny haha.

LaMelo was out here dropping 92 points in a game and making elite high school players look dumb when he was 15 or 16 years old. People gotta watch the games.

These people only watch the nba drama, don't really care about the game and come in here saying stuff

A couple of my son's friends from school, AAU, etc played on that Corona Centennial team that beat Bronny's Sierra Canyon team in the CIF playoffs this past season. The consensus was that Bronny probably wasn't even a top 3 player on his team. Basically a 6'-2" wing player with little playmaking ability. Even on his AAU team a few years ago, I think they were called Blue Chips, you could see that Mikey Williams was a much better prospect. Scottie Pippen's son was probably only the 3rd best player too while he was at Sierra Canyon and he's turning out ok in college though. Anything can happen with kids this age but typically in basketball you know the top tier prospects by age 15-16.

Yeah it's pretty ironic. Dajuan Wagner was a legend coming out of Camden, played one year in college and then basically lost his career to injury (kidney probems or Colitis I believe). He was picked by the Cavs in the lottery one year before Lebron.
