Come on guys. Let’s be realistic here.

Give me your conservative estimates.

How many MVP votes does Mo Bamba get this year?

Pepe is probably trying to become a member of the media now, so he could put in a vote for Bamba.

Suggs is still just thinking way too much. He's trying to be unselfish but he needs to realize when he just straight up attacks the paint and bucket the passing lanes are going to be wider. He needs to understand that just because he passes the ball off as he crosses half court doesn't mean he can't go right back and get it.. if he wants to. He just looks like a a player that is trying too hard to make the right plays within the offense but he controls the offense so he can break it and call PnR's for himself when he feels he needs to put pressure on the opposing defense or if they need a bucket or even if he just needs a bucket to get himself going.

But all in all he really hasn't played a ton of minutes so far. He had some really nice moments today though.. the pocket pass to Carter and the alley oop to Bamba were picture perfect. The Defense spectacular again.. some nice blocks and effort plays.

On that last sequence again.. he had the angle off the first attack he didn't need to go back and reset he should've taken that first line and tried to draw a foul or a little pull up J for the win.

By the middle of the season he should be comfortable and his potential will be actualized.

Spurs won't win 30 games on West.
Playing starters vs Spurs bench bodies in fourth quater helped box score and made game cosmetilly less ugly.
It's kind a obvious that Ross will be first offensive option, for better or worst.

As for Orlando as team, 20 wins is reality

I’m starting to get concerned with Suggs’ inability to get past anyone on offense. He is not getting anywhere with his dribble right now.

He's also not getting many picks set for him which is what most guards use to get into the paint. Dribbling against anyone with a defensive pulse is a recipe for disaster. Hopefully we incorporate that more to help him until he feels more comfortable.

Without a doubt. Way too much iso-ball being played by Suggs, Cole, and RJ. Suggs is also just passive right now. I’m sure he’ll be fine but I wish we could hit lightning right off the bat with one of our lotto picks sometime this decade.

I remember D'angelo Russell in rookie year, he couldn't pass chair with his dribble.

Most rookies at highschool level and college got used to be more athletic than opponents and relied heavily on having quicker first step. But those things don't work in nba. It will take time.
First things Suggs needs to learn is how to use screens in better fashion and how to "hide " from him man behind screen before attacking rim. But he will need experience for it, and probably better screeners than Magic will play ( maybe that's why Lopez is there? In his prime he was very good at dirty screening )

Yeah, I agree. The issue is with Fultz out and with some selfish guards already (Ross, Cole, etc), he sort of has to be that lead guard that will incorporate others first, even though he is most likely going to be the one with the highest offensive ceiling if everything works out. I'm not worried about aggressiveness or anything with him, he's thinking a lot of the game right now instead of playing naturally, but as a rookie it will be a huge adjustment period. The handle will need to tighten up and he'll learn to pick his spots and know when to be more aggressive, imo.

It's kind of like these NFL rookie quarterbacks getting a rude awakening in the NFL, especially for teams without a good offensive line or any weapons. There's a reason most NBA guards coming out of college who have a decently high usage rate shoot pretty badly their first year or two, takes a lot of getting used to. I see a lot I like in Suggs, but he isn't without weaknesses and I'm not very concerned about a lot of it because I'm expecting a very up and down season from most of our guys.

As it sits, it is a 20 win team. I will hold off until Isaac, Fultz and Chuma are playing.

I was at the game tonight... Suggs looked very tentative and seemed bit unsure when to shoot/score (looked like he lost his confidence in scoring/shooting too) ... Though he his body is NBA ready (His defense is really damn good and so is his passing). His dribbling/ball security and ability to penetrate/use screens effectively is probably going to take a few years. He's a very smart basketball player/hard worker. So I'd assume with the tutelage of Mosley (who has GREAT PATIENCE as a coach) that he'll improve into a Star caliber player. He just needs to play with less fear from what I've seen and believe he can get better.

It was a very entertaining/fun atmosphere. So happy to be apart of it.

Since they will probably be rusty ( Fultz& Isaac) and skip games due scheaduled rest and recovery, 20-25 wins seems to be objective.

Suggs only had two turnovers tho, it's more of him being directionless with ball than him getting stripped and losing ball in traffic.

For years I have wondered if Bamba's game is more suited for the PF slot.

With Isaac and Okeke out, it is very nice to see how effective Carter is alongside Bamba. More generally, these to have been very good all pre-season.

I also loved the way they supported each other when they were able to make a good play.
They were the most solid duo in the team, by far.

Carter, while in CHI, was telling management he was a PF...maybe he was right. Intriguing to consider his strength and BBIQ next to Bamba's length - rather than either/or...interesting concept. If Bamba keeps learning and working, he's clearly the C of the future. Not there yet, but some good stuff.

C-Bamba/Lopez/Moe
PF-WCJ/Okeke
SF-Isaac/Franz/Hampton
SG-Suggs/Ross/Harris
PG-Fultz/Cole

I feel like we are going to have to make some trades to free up some playing time once Isaac, Fultz, & Okeke come back if we go the route of Bamba and WCJ starting together.
