Parker is moving through the ranks rapidly. I think he joined Lakeland only a couple years back.

Now if only we could get some scouts and someone to make good draft picks!

I believe Parker played for us before. Isn't he Candace Parker's brother?

Yes, Anthony Parker played for the Magic before he went to Europe(where he became two times Euroleague Mvp).

He later came back to the NBA in his 30's and was a solid role player but I think he could have been a borderline all star in the NBA if his situation was different in his first few years in the League.

Matt Lloyd trackrecord with draft picks:

Elfrid Payton, Oladipo, Gordon, Hezonja, Isaac, Bamba. Only player he drafted and turned into allstar was Sabonis, because Presti told him who to draft.

Ofc, as rewrad for not being able to draft allstar in 9 years ( despite almost always being in lottery), he got promoted...
This doesn't even take in account that second round picks

Let's look at the three players selected after each of these.

Payton: Doug McDermott, Dario Šarić, and Zach LaVine. I do recall a lot of Magic interest in LaVine pre-draft, so a poor pick.
Oladipo: Otto Porter Jr., Cody Zeller, and Alex Len. Absolutely the right pick
Gordon: Dante Exum, Marcus Smart, and Julius Randle. In hind-sight, yes it could be Randle. But on the day I think many were expecting Smart. Hard to say this is a "bad" pick.
Hezonja: Willie Cauley-Stein, Emmanuel Mudiay, and Stanley Johnson. Man this draft year sucked. But still a bad pick amongst bad picks.
Isaac: Lauri Markkanen, Frank Ntilikina, and Dennis Smith Jr. The draft flattened from 5-10, and Isaac still looks like the correct pick.
Bamba: Wendell Carter Jr., Collin Sexton, and Kevin Knox. Given that trade-down would have been a better pick than Bamba, and that Sexton made a lot more sense woth Vučević on the roster, I think this was a terrible pick at the moment. Now it might be OK. I hope so.

In conclusion: I wonder if I would have had better drafts than Lloyd.

Matt Lloyd is pretty well respected as a scout around the league. Not surprised here.

Cant expect him to give you 100% all the time, at the end of the day, Hennigan, WeHam are the ones still making the final decisions. Lloyd just reports.

2013 : McCullum turned into better , more durable and simply more productive player than Oladipo.
2014: Lavine , Randle ,2 allstars over GOrdon & Payton
2015: Myles Turner ( league's leading blocker) Devin Booker (allstar)
2017: Adebayo & Mitchell, 2 allstars
2018: Porter, SGA

You can't draft 6 players in lottery over 9 years and have 0 allstars and nobody to build future around. if you do, you failed at your job, and Llyod keeps failing ( bzzzzz sleeping every time i see Wagner , Mo Harkless vibe is too strong ).

Oh and can we talk about second round picks? Did any of them even turned into good G league player? I highly doubt it? I mean, is Iwundu his best "find" in second round in 9 years ?

Totally unfair with Oladipo. He was absolutely amazing in Indiana until his devastating knee injury.

Lloyd is a Hennigan guy, he needs to go. He doesn't need to be promoted.

You know what's unfair? Fact that between 2013 and 2018 drafts, 15 players turned into allstars, MVPs , DPOYs or all nba first/secod/Defensive team players after Magic drafted their guys. In same time drafting 0 allstars , 0 DPOYS, 0 MVPs, 0 all nba first/second/defensive team members.

We can dig deep how almost not a single draft pick made any sense ( like notion that you can build team around 3 natural poor shooters... twice , damn they are doing this BS again don't they? ) or how stock piling same position as roster contruction makes no sense, or how drafting players with same weaknesses adds up to roster that lacks balance.... But that's story for another day.

But as far as Llyod goes, he is only guy who ties Hennigan & Weltman other than ownership & Martins. And Magic are "rebuilding through draft" without any sucess since 2012. So yea... he shouldn't get promoted and probably should have been fired back in 2017 with Hennigan.
