Re: Should The Orlando Magic Just Wait Another Year?
In first week of nba season players drafted 2 years after Fultz & Isaac will surpass them in total games played ( Morant & RJ Barrett ).
Players drafted same year as them:
Tatum (289 + playoffs) & Fox ( 263)
already played more games than Fultz and Isaac combined (249).
This doesn't even show whole story, Fultz only played 2890 min, Isaac 3500.... Deaaron Fox alone played 8200 min, Jarret Allen 7200.
Their nba experience makes them "sophmores" their length of service says " entering 5th year".
If dribbling through chairs during rehab will make you better, than Dante Exum would have been MVP by now.

Gotta agree with pepe on this one.
Practices increases skills like shooting and handles. Real game minutes make you a better basketball player. Right now Isaac and Fultz have to get a lot better at basketball...AND FAST.
I hope both spent their time away from the game working on their shooting form and other skills. BUT once they are healthy it's time to get back in the game and get better.

Fultz has a great feel and is a good basketball player just needs to work on his shooting and he would be a perennial all star caliber guard. Isaac on the other hand has never looked like a good NBA player on offense

Isaac says that he's improved his shooting, but nothing can replace game experience. I remember Isaac's first summer league game, he was just as good or better than Bam. Bam has been healthy are far surpassed Isaac now.jonbob17 wrote:pepe1991 wrote:In first week of nba season players drafted 2 years after Fultz & Isaac will surpass them in total games played ( Morant & RJ Barrett ).

That's why I think the main thing with our young players now is keeping them healthy. Even If that means playing them only 20 mpg. and giving them nights off.

We've been just waiting another year ever since Dwight got injured.
Yeah, wait. Not like we aren't forced to wait, anyways.

Fultz has been pretty bad overall when he's been on the court. He gets to where he wants, has good vision, but he makes a lot of mistakes. Takes bad shots. He's been pretty good at finishing. Really bad on defense. He looked like a really good rookie his first year here. Problem is we are four years in. He hasn't been healthy enough to develop.

Yeah, injuries are a killer. That's why no matter what the season brings, the biggest thing is that our young guys don't get injured. Even getting spanked for 60 games is better for development than sitting on the sidelines.

Re: Should The Orlando Magic Just Wait Another Year?
We don't have to be bad.
Brad Stevens and Monty Williams have taken poor rosters and made them work.
I expect us to finish in the playoffs this season. If we tank, then what's the point of the current coach?
He needs to win, and develop. Not just develop.
Don't want another Vaughn situation.

I can absolutely see Coach getting the team to overactive to 35 wins. That could be 50/50 for the 10 seed. I would be so happy, so very happy, to see this roster make the play-ins!

We can still be competitive!:D
We need this franchise to be smart about JI and Fultz.
Especially if we add another lottery asset next summer, use that in a trade to upgrade our roster with a potential free agent with a healthy JI and Fultz.
Gotta admire Jonathan Isaac focus while the kids play lol

Seems like every year it’s “wait till next year”.

Outside of the improvement of Bamba and our two rookies, this team is hard to watch!
Bamba has the most two way potential on this team besides Jonathan Isaac!

Re: Should The Orlando Magic Just Wait Another Year?
Better way of putting this is saying we should just wait. Nothing's imminent to happen next year or even one after that as well. Waiting in my mind just means we tank and turn our TV on draft night only for as long as it takes, be it a year, decade or whatever. Isn't that what Kings and Wolves are doing? It means we should watch some other kind of basketball, because tanking sure as hell doesn't resemble rooting for your team in my book.

Re: Should The Orlando Magic Just Wait Another Year?
You see teams like ATL that started recent rebuilds and look at the number of 3pt shooters up and down their roster....they get it....we are trying to recreate the 94 Knicks, stuck in some weird time warp.....how are we not trying to get shooters???

Re: Should The Orlando Magic Just Wait Another Year?
I ask again...waiting for what? Our roster is super-young, high-draft picks up and down the roster 2 deep at every spot, new Coach with developmental focus...if they can't start playing to compete, we never will. If all of this "acquired talent" can't learn to play at least a little bit of competitive basketball, what the hell are we doing? (I'm not talking rings or even playoffs-just not purposely tanking). Develop everyone that can, package picks and players for a big trade, compete! Stop being "patient" "methodical" "strategic" doormats.

When you look the way Gordon; Evan, Vuc, Oladipo, Harris and other former Magic players play on other teams, you can't stop wondering what would have happend if front offices had balls to make trades for actual stars, instad of always half -a***ing everything, hiding behind " we are young, rebuilding team" mantra as excuse for never make big move or put themselfs out there.
Over years Chris Paul, Irving, Paul Geroge, Kemba, Butler, Holiday, Westbrook were all traded in that time frame, Magic just elected to be bunch of wussies and still end up in same spot that is east to be- point one point zero- rebuild without any good players. Rest button is easiest thing to do in nba. Houston is best example how easy it is to tear down team.
