I wonder, if the rest of society was anti-vax does anyone else think Irving would have gotten the jab by now?

The guy seems like a contrarian for the sake of it.

Yeah, it's weird, but it's due to Silver not enforcing a league-wide mandate. Since visiting players aren't employees of the state(s) enforcing a mandate, they can still play. States with mandates don't have the jurisdiction to enforce mandates on employees from visiting states.

Clear as mud?

And then they've put the Raptors in an awkward position because Canada's covid laws are even stricter

Is there a way to tell if this was an edit?

Or is that impressive?

It's an edit.

Feels obvious but just want to nip this in case it ends up on some conspiracy blog

Silver can't mandate vaccines for players because they are governed by the CBA. He has mandated NBA staff to get vaxxed. He is powerless to enforce contracted players vaccine. Now, governors have the power for public health to make these health requirements in public spaces, such as a game or arean. It is why Kyrie could practice, because the training facility was private,

The answer is to trade kyrie to a team in a state that does not have this mandate, like Florida, Texas or Atlanta.

One of the more clear logical fallacies throughout this mess. If you understand statistics that is. Can't change your populations.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

It's crazy how people cherry pick stats and then use that to justify tyranny. This is a matter of trust and some of us don't trust big pharma or these government agency with their ties to big pharma.

There are plenty of scientist and health care professionals that are against these vaccine. Hell Iceland just banned the Moderna shot. While Denmark, Finland and Sweden have all decided not to give these vaccine to people under a certain age. The idea that this is widely accepted in the scientific community as the consensus best way to go about getting a handle on covid is one of the biggest propaganda campaigns in human history.

This is just a win for Kyrie. He doesnt have to play basketball, he still gets to collect half his salary (so about 17.5 mil), his name will stay in the news all year long because people will constantly talk about how the Nets need him if they want to win the championship, and he gets to stand his ground on his point.

This is pretty much the ideal scenario for Kyrie.

No, it's not correct.

No, Vaccinated People Are Not ‘Just as Likely’ to Spread the Coronavirus as Unvaccinated People

I don't understand how this misinformation happens. The Vaccine is 80-95% effective against getting covid. And for those who do get a breakthrough case, almost 99% effective at stopping sever illness and death.

Just do the math.

1,000,000 un vaxed = 1,000,000 cases = 20,000 deaths (~2% death rate)

1,000,000 vaxed = 50,000 cases (95% effective) = 50 deaths (o.oo5% death rate)

That is essentially the difference between deaths of vaxed and unvaxxed. Deaths of fully vaccinated after a breakthrough case is exceedingly rare. But when you have billions of people getting vaccine, it is going to happen.

I CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMORE. Just use our advanced basketball analytic minds to do simple math.

Its not just deaths that is a concern..hospital beds and resources being used up, MDs and RNs getting burnt out, are just as concerning with regards to public health. The whole point of the vaccine is not just to avoid deaths, but to avoid hospitalization and long term health issues caused by high viral load of covid.

Also, if we look at how 500,000 excess deaths in a year (in the US) is affecting us with worker shortages, supply chain issues..

Then we have a whole generation of kids losing parents prematurely and how that affects them..or how these families in the US who may have survived covid but are now financially ruined with bills, or worse families who have lost a provider AND stuck with hospital bills

Then theres the long term affects which are well-documented but still unknown as for how those with damaged lungs, etc will be affected decades from now. Maybe the words "shortened lifespan" makes more sense.

So yea, saying its a high survival rate is basically some morons trying to justify why the vaccine is pointless..its not..its a modern miracle that certain demographics are taking for granted.

So, while I understand trust as a concern, I am confused by people who see the vaccines as "big pharma" but don't see other medicines owned by similar companies as something untrustworthy.

If you're in this group, I'd ask you what medications you trust and what your source is for trusting them.

That's easily one of the most ridiculous takes on the subject I've heard.

A guy who was a toxic presence on 2 different competitive teams BEFORE getting to the Nets .... Was a locker-room cancer during his first year in Brooklyn and has never been a leader .... a guy who's reputation as person has been irrevocably damaged... and you think it's a win?

Getting paid tens of millions of dollars for doing nothing is a win for anyone but I don't think Kyrie wants a scenario where he does not want to play basketball. He wouldn't be as good of a player if he didn't care about basketball. Obviously if he still refuses to get vaccinated with everything on the line, it means that he prioritizes his stupid anti vaxx beliefs over everything else, but I don't think this has ever been about not wanting to play basketball or that being a plus for him.

Absolutely none of that has anything to do at all with what I said.

Yes I think this is a win for Kyrie. He is going to get paid 17.5 million dollars to sit at home, his name will stay in the news the entire year and he gets to look like a martyr for his stance on this.

You know there is a separate vaccine thread near the top of the first page where you can spread these wild conspiracy theories (and get them debunked.)
